	2003.04.12  13.15 A Friendly Reminder Just to let everyone know, we are moving to a new home before May 18th, because we have sold ours. 	2003.04.10  22.02 Plants N Things This actually happened yesterday but I didnt get a chance to type an entry :(. So this is for yesterday not tonight. And it happened to my mom not me. And it didnt involve Dan! It involved my grandmother. As most of you know, she died in January on the 29th of 2003. She was married to my grandfather for over 60 years, and waited until after their anniversary, which was on the 28th, to pass away. She was a wonderful woman, but also held many secrets. And we all know, especially my mother and me, that she is watching over our family. More than once I have witnesssed and felt her presence, but that is another story. On the day of her wake, 7 grueling hours of watching people pass in and out of the room, chatting and paying respects, some who didnt even know her, we were to leave. We were told we could take home some of the smaller flower arrangements that were sent by those who could not attend. My mother, instead of choosing bright flowers, chose a large green plant, knowing it would last longer than the flowers, whose petals would wilt within weeks. The plant is still alive and healthy, as green as ever. Its definitly alive though. My mother came to me yesterday night and told me how the leaves on the plant began to shake, and asked if i thought that maybe it could have been a spider *cringe*. I hate spiders. I didnt think it could have been, because it would have to be one hell of a spider to make those heavy thick green leaves tremble the way she said they did. She also said how she was overcome with emotion and warmth, and actually felt my grandmother there. I believe her. - Sam Mood: depressed

	2003.04.06  23.38 The Glossinator Evenin'...I have been informed that we are soon going to be able to take a trip to the infamous Bachelor's Grove Cemetery! Usually I am pretty skeptical about going there, only because I never seem to catch anything, but Dan has given me hope, buy his recent restless moving about. More footsteps and the gentle knocking on walls has increased today, and I think this is his way of saying "Yes Sam! Go and get your high print glossies!!!! I have FAITH in YOU!!!!" I doubt thats what he would voice if given the chance...hes more down to earth, and thats putting it nicely. See if it applies to you! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ How Do I Know I Have A Ghost? by Dave Juliano This is the question I am asked most often. Many people write me and share a few experiences with me and then want me to tell them if their home is haunted. Unfortunately is not that easy. Each situation and experience is unique and must be looked at closely. Even then, without conducting an onsite investigation, I am just making an assumption based on the events as they were explained to me. Granted some people can clearly tell me symptoms and I can feel pretty secure in my assessment of their situation, but others give vague descriptions and make this difficult. Here are some tips that may help you form some conclusions and allow you to get an idea of what may be happening to you. Can the events be explained naturally? You may have to call out an electrician to see if your flickering lights are just shorted wires or really something else. Maybe your HVAC service tech can find the true source of that cold spot you feel. You have to rule out all natural explanations before you can turn your attention to the supernatural. Other symptoms like noises, objects moving and other events can be traced to natural explanations so do a little research before you get concerned about a spirit. I remember a case in which a woman smelled roses at certain times and she associated the smell with her deceased mother. She swore it was her mother returning to visit her. Upon visiting her home, the investigator found the neighbors did floral arrangements out of their home. The houses were very close together and the scent was traveling between the two homes. The woman also made the connection that the "visits" only occurred in warmer months when the windows were open. Keep a log of any strange events. This will serve two purposes. It can be helpful in finding natural explanations for events that are time related. It is even more helpful if you do decide there is something more in your home and have investigators assist you. They will be able to see patterns and other useful information that will make their initial job easier. Once you cannot find any explanations for the events you are experiencing, you are ready to get some help. I recommend you contact a local (if possible) research/investigation group to come in and check out your home with their equipment to see if they can detect any spirit activity. There are many people who do this for no charge (travel and lodging for non local groups may be requested) and are professional. Meet with them first just to discuss your case and make sure you feel comfortable with them. Psychics can also be used but I recommend using them in conjunction with the other detection equipment. If a psychic feels a spirit in a particular room and the other investigators get positive readings on the equipment and photos in the same room, that validates the psychics impressions and will make you feel more confident in the abilities of the investigators and psychic. Remember, don't panic! There is rarely any reason for concern if you do have a spirit. 	2003.04.03  12.34 Shhh! Im trying to sleep! So what happens when youre trying to sleep, and its 1:30 in the morning, and you just close your eyes and start to drift off, and all of a sudden you hear heavy footsteps padding around on your bedroom floor? Thats right. My friendly but mischevious ghost, Dan, decided to be a pest. I ended up throwing the pillow over my head and growling at him to stop several times before he actually did. For all of you who dont know Dan, let me introduce you to him. It started when I was visiting my father's house with my sister a while ago. I want to say laaaaaaaaast March I think? I could very well be mistaken. My father lives in Freeport, IL, and here is where there is more farm land and open space than anywhere else I can think of in IL. This is why so much energy can flow. At least that is my theory. Theres more open space and less congestion like in the city. When I say 'city' Im referring to Chicago. Anyway, it was winter, and I was out in the very big backyard with my new digital camera. A Fuji...they take really good pictures! I wanted to try it out, so I took tons...as many as the camera would hold. I really didnt expect to catch anything. I was very surprised when I uploaded the pics to my dads computer and there was toooons of activity. I mean, if you dont believe me, check out the photos yourself in the Investigations page! So I just HAD to share this with someone. Those were my first official GHOST photos. I called up a fellow team member to tell him what I had found. This was around 11 at night. I called him up and started to tell him, as I was loading picture number 3 off my camera. All of a sudden, I heard a loud beep. The beep was like what you would hear if the person on the other end of the phone hit a key on the phone or something by accident. I ignored it and thought it was him, but it happened more frequently and actually louder than before, as I zoomed in on the 3rd picture and to my amazement I found that I had captured a full figured apparition! I finally told the member to knock off the beeping because it was beginning to drive me nuts. He told me that he wasnt doing it, and asked why the phone kept cutting my voice out. It was then I realized that it wasnt him, and it wasnt a problem with the phone...it was the ghost. And the ghost didnt want me to show its picture. Maybe it was camera shy. I got my sister from the living room to bring her over to the phone so she could hear it as well as the other member and I. Three is better than 2! So she heard it, and we got the idea to 'talk' to it. Talk is exactly what we did. We asked it questions and it answered, using the phone keys. One beep meant 'yes' and 2 meant 'no'. We also found out his name this way by going through the alphabet, him telling us what letter was correct. D turned out to be the right letter, and we went through all the names we could think of until we came to 'Dan' which in return gave us a really loud BEEP. We learned a lot about Dan. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed when I had to go home. But I think he knew this, because he followed us home from my fathers house and has been with us ever since. He 'told' us he wasnt from my father's house, but from next door, which explains two things: 1. This is a good explination of why the apparition (although we really dont think its of him, because the apparition, after many opinions, is said to be female 2. This could explain why he has no problem traveling. So theres Dan in a nutshell. But hes really a very sweet and protective ghost if you look beyond the dry humor and his odd amusements. I remember once, he whispered to my mom in a deep sleep to shut and lock the patio doors. She woke immediately and locked the patio doors. That same day in the afternoon two guys were caught and arrested for peeping in windows and breaking into homes. I hope youre pleased to meet Dan, because I know hes pleased to meet all of you. 	2003.04.01  20.11 And in the Beginning... So heres the long awaited journal through my pretty paranormal home. Why did this take so long for me to make? Because I dont have the proper time I wish I had to spend on filling out endless forms, repeating my email address, and trying to figure out how the hell Im supposed to change the colors and such so they dont look like mustard, like the Supernova option does..I thought that would be pretty...hmmm Anyway, here is where you can read about paranormal happenings in my house. But it wont all just be about the paranormal. I might write something in here that has nothing to do with that topic, just to take some seriousness off of a high stress related topic! Which it is. I mean, how would you feel if you were a ghost hunter and had to deal with boogeymen all the time???? Enjoy yourselves here.
