ooohhh, vacation time, how i love you.
i'm creating a ten-day vacation for myself. i will leave work on september 4th and not return until the 15th. thanks to weekends and labor day (which i am already paid for), i will only use five of my ten vacation days. harvest fest is september 10th through 13th.
i'll use one on august 14 for a weekend trip to wisconsin/iowa to see my grandparents and my mom, who will be there because my grandpa is turning 80(!).
I used 1 1/2 the weekend of the huber wedding.
the rest i figure i'll use on random fridays. yes.
in other not-at-all-awesome news, i talked to my mom last night. my uncle's cancer is back (after 11 years), but he hasn't actually told anyone yet. she heard the news from grandma. i think most of you have heard a little bit about his health woes. he's kind of a medical miracle. the top three causes of death in the U.S. are heart disease, cancer, and strokes. he's had all three, more than once. pneumonia is number eight, which he's had several times. nobody thinks he's going to make it through this... he's too weak for chemo, and we wouldn't be surprised if he turned down radiation.
so that sucks.
but uh, yeah, you know what doesn't suck? going to the lake this weekend. and seeing cirque du soleil next weekend. and going to a twins game the weekend after that.
and going home to sit semi-naked in my air-conditioned living room.
