today is my brother cody's birthday. the last time i saw or spoke to him was when he was here for graduation. in may. so, we're not close. not for any reason, we just kind of aren't. anyway, i couldn't remember this morning if he was turning 24 or 25. so i texted tyler and asked. twenty-five. then i made sure I had the right phone number for cody (because i remembered at some point having an old number that didn't work anymore) so i could send him a quick birthday text. i had the right number, and we had the following text message exchange:

me: happy birthday brother!
cody: thanks sista! we gotta hang, i live in eden prairie now.
me: how long have you lived there?
cody: bout a month.
me: sweet. we should hang out.

yep. maybe i'll keep better track of him for a while.

also, i blatantly hung up on a guy today. he wasn't even a client- he was calling for help with something that we don't actually do. i can see how he'd be confused. I mean, hearing that a social security firm doesn't help with benefit withholding can seem a little strange. well, apparently he didn't want to believe me, because he said "i want to talk to a lawyer, not some front desk motherfucker."

i suppose instead of just hanging up i could've told him i was, you know, a paralegal. but whatever. motherfucker.

on a lighter note, this song. i don't think i've been so into the repeat button since sufjan's "chicago." man.

oh and in case you missed it (which i did), yesterday was the two year anniversary of the theatre disaster. you know, as awful as it was, the new ropes we got out of it are pretty nice. and it's a great story, right?

plus god is being sued. good luck with that one, senator.

this week needs to be over. the weekend is going to be too good, and it's too far away. homecoming (although i'm going to keep up my tradition of not going to the game), the world's biggest tea party... good times.

don't wanna be forgotten
