10:40 pm	I'll never lose my keys again The coolest thing I got for Christmas was an EasyDisk, which is essentially a portable 64MB USB hard drive (for the techies out there, it's actually a flash memory device that acts like a hard drive). I attached it to my keychain and always have it plugged into my laptop, since it contains some sensitive files (ssh keys, etc.) I wouldn't want anyone to have access to if they somehow use my laptop without my permission. It also has a password on it so that if it's stolen, none of the data can be retrieved. An unintentional but nice side effect is that I'll never misplace my keys again, since they'll always be plugged into my laptop. (Comment on this)

2:03 am	The SDSL Upgrade Saga! Since we've moved into our apartment last March, I've been trying to get 768 SDSL instead of 384 SDSL. Our original order was for 768, but Covad said the maximum speed we could get was 384. I asked Speakeasy to try my line at 768 and they replied that Covad wouldn't even allow it. Fast forward several months. sherm told me to try posting to the DSL Reports forums, so I did. You can view that thread here. I contacted raybro about my last question and he said that there are no notes that Speakeasy tried the upgrade, and that since I'm only 600' past the limit, it should work. He suggested that I ask Speakeasy to please get Covad to try the upgrade. So I did. Again, Speakeasy said Covad's system won't even let Speakeasy try the upgrade, and they've been told by Covad in the past to not try circumventing it. So, now I've contacted raybro again to see if he can work with one of the Speakeasy reps. Hopefully they can work something out. Will Karl finally get 768 SDSL? Stay tuned for the next episode of...
