Wow, it's been so long! I know I said I didn't want to abandon this blog, and I meant it. It's just that, well, there's either too much or too little to write about. And I haven't been in the right mindspace to really write lately. That's just as well, I think, given how busy we've been.
But I think you'll like what i've been up to.
- We went to the pediatric cancer ward in PGH, Wards 11 and 12, a week ago. Oneal and I and two others were in our Star Wars costumes, and we went with our pirate friends. Thanks again to Karen Kunawicz of Black Pearl Philippines and Nyx Martinez of the Our Life Foundation for organizing the whole trip. :) Photos on Multiply.
- I finally got a tattoo.
- Paul is in India!
- I never thought this would ever happen, but I now play World of Warcraft. For work! What the?
- Alam mo, magaling ako magluto. Talaga. The problem with this is mahilig din ako kumain. :P
- I haven't played Magic in so long. :( I miss it. And to think Dante gave me Magic cards for my birthday!
- Annual Yale New year's Party on Saturday, January 3. You're all invited!
- We're getting married. :D February 20, 2010. I wish we could invite all of you, really I do! But we already have 230 people on the guest list, waaaah! So I promise, we're having a Yale party after the wedding, and you're all invited to that one. Really! So ayan, you can look through my entries from the past few months, and look for the ones with 2010 in the subject. Those are wedding preps posts. :P

4:01 pm - 2010: venue-hunting - Fernwood

so we've started venue-hunting. can you believe it?
we want a garden reception, so that it looks like we're in Naboo for our Star Wars wedding. we also want a place that's between Oneal's relatives and mine; my relatives will be coming from QC and the East, while his will be coming from the South. we were thinking QC, Ortigas or Makati.
our first stop was Fernwood Gardens in QC. i checked out the website a few months back, and wow. the website photos were beautiful. i could already see us there, with all our friends and family. i had to stop myself.
Oneal and i were able to visit a few weeks ago, with Paul in tow. it was so funny. when we went into the office, the admin asked, "sino po yung ikakasal?" and i couldn't repress a giggle as i said, "kami," pointing to Oneal. it was just so funny to hear it said out loud.
we checked out their four venues, and the chapel. it's really beautiful there, and Oneal and i really like it. it's kind of expensive though. [photos]

the first thing i did to really and truly start preparing for the wedding was to join the Weddings@Work mailing list. i was so apprehensive about it at first. it was akin to saying to the world, "yes, we're really doing it!"
it felt so odd to be reading other brides' woes and joys, while wondering, is this what's going to happen to us? horror stories about suppliers, church offices changing arrangements at the last minute, disappointments.
it was also overwhelming to see all the abbreviations. WTF is a H@B? STD? it got so frustrating that i had to ask, "uh, what do all those abbreviations mean?" apparently i wasn't the only one who thought that, and many other members of the mailing started saying, "oh yeah, what does so-and-so mean?" until some other members posted a list of abbreviations and their meanings. even the moderator thanked me for asking, and said she'd put the list in the group files.
the mere fact that i signed up was such a major step for me that i had to tell people; other than my housemates, of course. so i told Meann and Data, over Y!M. Meann seemed pleasantly surprised, but Data! Data was ecstatic! she was so excited and happy. i imagine if we'd been face to face, she would have been jumping and squealing.
since then, Meann has been informing me of bridal fairs she hears of, and Data's given me some pretty solid advice. i also got a lot of good leads from W@W. the only problem is finding the time to read all those messages. darned work gets in the way.

i was in Gateway today, doing some errands. Dante and i met Oneal in Fully Booked, and what did we find? Christmas cards, gift tags and note paper, on display on a table near the entrance. it's Christmas!
i love Christmas. i love buying gifts for the people i love, getting them things i know they will love, wrapping the gifts, meeting up with long-lost friends.
what i hate, though, is all the FUSS. i hate the traffic. i hate the crowds. i hate the mad rush to DO EVERYTHING NOW BEFORE THE YEAR ENDS. bah.
