Subject:honey, do you think KFC's still open?
Time:4:01 pm.
Mood: excited.
Music:blur: "coffee + TV".

so one of the things i neglected to mention in yesterday's update was that i'm going to be reviewing movies again. be afraid. be very afraid. but whatever you do, be sure to shut the hell up once the feature presentation has started.

i was chatting with cat on friday, and she told me of her plans for world domination. these include the creation of an info-tainment web site, and she asked if i'd like to be its movie reviewer. something just clicked inside. a good feeling. like, yeah, this is a step in the right direction after zig-zagging all over the place for the past two or three years! for six months or so, i've been toying with the idea of starting my own review web site, but i just never really felt like i could handle the pressure of getting it off the ground while simultaneously putting the old critic hat back on my head for the first time since 2000. (let's face it. that last year on the college paper, that hat was in my lap ... and i was vomiting into it.) this will be a terrific test for me. it'll get me back into the reviewing groove and let me figure out if a review web site is really what i want to do.

of course, now i need to get back into the swing of going to the movies more than once every two weeks. so i rang up good ol' deb from work yesterday and persuaded her (it honestly didn't take much) into meeting me at the mall after we both clocked out for a twilight matinee. i needed to wash the taste of daredevil out of my mouth, so we saw old school, which i had been jonesin' to see since it's from the makers of road trip, one of my favorite comedies ever. the verdict: very funny, even if it wasn't quite up to the laugh-out-loud quotient of road trip. will ferrell fans will especially be entertained, and bonus points for the seann william scott cameo. but i'll probably never be able to listen to "hungry like the wolf" in the same way again.

oh. and deb had a surprising incident happen to her in the cineplex bathroom. her reaction to it would've won her quote of the day easily, but i've been asked not to elaborate for fear of revealing too much information.
