i've learned a very important lesson™ in the past week: the only thing i'm really good at is procrastination. now, if i could just figure out how to fashion it into a career, i would be totally set. let's see. what's new? last night, i worked until close to 8, then got home all groggy-like and decided to not finish the glen burnie sidebars. instead, i watched a bit of TV, finished the first season of coupling and chatted up friends on IM. typical. i caught the last part of the bachelorette, which i've been doing for a few weeks now, to see if that creepy stalker guy russ, the contestant most likely to go apeshit if denied a rose, would ever get kicked to the curb. indeed, he was sent packing, but it wasn't really that satisfying. i wanted him to cry and roll around on the floor, urinate on trista, wrap himself up in the drapes, use the rose tray to split open the head of that annoying host chris harrison and smear the oozing brains across his face. you know, go out in style. it was kind of a non-eventful dump, not unlike many of my bowel movements. so trista's now stuck with charlie, the lunkhead with the strange posture and the perpetual wethead, and ryan, the sensitive poet-wannabe who always looks like he just got out of bed (with trista?). and as sad as it sounds, i will probably watch the finale to see which of these guys will earn the right to become her future ex-boyfriend. it's supposed to snow today, tonight and tomorrow. we're supposed to accumulate six inches. i love how snow always shows up just in time to hamper the weekend. oh well. worst-case scenario is i get stuck in the house tomorrow and i force myself to finish the glen burnie sidebars already. which, ironically, is also the best-case scenario. so since this might be an extended weekend, i think i'll draw up a goal list early. 1. finish the freaking glen burnie shit already. continued from previous weekend goal list. 2. go to some more freaking movies already. shit. continued from previous weekend goal list. 3. buy a set of freaking weights and do that exercise shit already. continued from previous weekend goal list. 4. start reading a book. i've got a stack of probably 20 unread books on my dresser, which i've accumulated in the past year or so. the last book i read was nick hornby's how to be good, and i finished it during the holidays. it's time to crack open another one. i'll set the bar low. i predict i'll follow through on not a single one of these goals. that way, if i only accomplish one of them, i'll be pleasantly surprised. i'd also like to add that i meant to bring my radiohead CDs to work with me. i haven't listened to them in over a year because radiohead sorta reminds me of some dyspeptic times. unfortunately, i forgot them, so i'm stuck with the bounty of albums that are in my knapsack. one of them, oddly enough, is the electronic radiohead tribute album (did i actually buy this?), which explains why i'm listening to in one ear out the other's version of "idioteque" in place of radiohead's. actually, this cover isn't bad at all. but mitchell sigman should be shot for making "let down" a little too, er, electronic. it sounds like stephen hawking on lead vocals. seriously. |
