: So long, farewell...
I've decided that having 2 "journals" is too much stuff to keep up with. Therefore, I have decided that from now on, I will be only a one journal girl. You can find me at www.livejournal.com/users/grassals I have enjoyed my time here at blurty, but since the addition of Katie to our family, it's been a little hectic. Besides most of my other friends have journals on Live Journal as well, so it's just a bit easier to stick with that one. Call it laziness if you wish, I don't really care. As we said back in my OHS days- Holla yo! 29th April 2005

In My Daughter's Eyes ------Martina McBride In my daughter's eyes I am a hero I am strong and wise and I know no fear But the truth is plain to see She was sent to rescue me I see who I wanna be In my daughter's eyes In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal Darkness turns to light and the world is at peace This miracle God gave to me gives me strength when I am weak I find reason to believe In my daughter's eyes And when she wraps her hand around my finger Oh it puts a smile in my heart Everything becomes a little clearer I realize what life is all about It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough It's giving more when you feel like giving up I've seen the light It's in my daughter's eyes In my daughter's eyes I can see the future A reflection of who I am and what will be Though she'll grow and someday leave Maybe raise a family When I'm gone I hope you see how happy she made me For I'll be there In my daughter's eyes 23rd April 2005

: the sunrise
In the ever popular website The Book of Shenry, there was a "shenright" posting that said "This weekend catch the daily splendor that is sunrise..." I, inspired by this post, left a comment to Shenry stating that I would indeed participate in this exercise. I was counting on Katie to wake me up for this thrilling event because she usually wakes up around 5:00 or so every morning. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, this weekend, she decided to "sleep in" until 7:00. Thusly, I did not get to participate. However, I am sure that my beloved daughter will be back to her normal waking time this week at some point and I will be able to catch the sunrise. 4th March 2005

: "Stupid is as stupid does"
As I was backing out of the driveway this morning I heard a loud crunch. I backed our beautiful Mazda 6 into our Chevy Blazer. DAMNIT! Thankfully no damage was done to the Blazer, but the Mazda's bumper is smushed in on one side. Say bye bye to the refund check, Robynn...

: Very interesting...
This is mainly an article for the pregnant people, but if you're interested in learning about the differences between c-sections and vaginal births after a c-section (VBAC) go right ahead and read it too. http://slate.msn.com/id/2111499/?GT1=6065 What do you guys think? When I went for my 6 week check up the dr. informed me that it would "be best" if I had c-sections with any subsequent children. Her reasoning is because I have "such a small pelvic area". 1st January 2005

A couple of days ago a reporter from the Commercial Appeal came to talk to me. Well, the story is in today (Sunday's) paper. The Commercial Appeal makes you log in your information to read a story, but after that it should let you view any of the stories all the time. Go to www.gomemphis.com if you're interested. The title of the article is "Room to Stretch Out" and it's located in the business section.
Geez, at 3 weeks old Katie is already a celebrity! 28th October 2004
: *sings* "I, I feel so alive..."
Hello party people! Here's a brief rundown of what's been happening: My water broke on Oct. 15th around 7:30pm, so Danny and I headed to the hospital. Yeah, that whole trickle thing, not happening for me, it was a GUSH! No contractions and I wasn't dilated any so they started me on pitocin (a drug that starts contractions). Around 2;30am I got my epidural and all was right with the world. Well, at least until about 8:45am when my doctor came in and told me that I'd stalled out at 5 centimeters (I'd been that way for about 3 1/2 hours), so she recommended that I have a c-section. At 9:19am on October 16th, Katherine Jewell Hopkins was born. She is now almost 2 weeks old and is quite chunky, which is adorable! You can go to sigma1007.buzznet.com/user for pics Recovery has been going well. It sucks not being able to drive for 2 weeks and I can't exercise for 6 weeks! I need to help Katie realize that night time is for sleeping, and day time is for being awake. It'll help once we can get a somewhat routine down for bedtime. I am nursing which has helped my tummy go down tremendously, not to mention the wonderful bond that I feel with her. In other news, Danny and I FINALLY think we've sold the Angel Crest house! Can I get an AMEN!! We actually sold it for more than what we were asking; can I get another AMEN!! Hopefully, if everything works out, we will not be paying November's house payment. WOOT!!!!! 14th October 2004

: The "show"
This is a pregnancy related post so if you don't want to read about it, I'd suggest you stop reading now. Went to the doctor for my weekly check-up today. She again, informed me that I had not dilated any but that the baby is in the head down position. I was a little disappointed that nothing has been happening because the braxton-hicks contractions I've been having were getting a little more frequent. After I got home and rested I had to use the restroom and saw my "show" or the dislodgment of my mucus plug (basically it's one of the first early signs of your body getting ready to go into labor). I'm sure the internal exam I had to day had something to do with it. But, I'm very excited because this means that I could go into labor soon;it still could be a couple of weeks away but at least I know SOMETHING is happening. I'll keep you guys posted as best I can! 4th October 2004
: Hmmmm...Chocolate!
One of the graduate assistants got to attend a conference in Belgium, and he brought me back CHOCOLATES! Not just a few little pieces, but a box full. Yes, Robynn is VERY happy right now! In other news, the doctor has recommended that I go ahead and take my maternity leave a little earlier than I'd originally planned. That's cool though, I've already run it past Dr. Jahan and he's fine with it as long as I can come in for at least a couple of hours (during high student/faculty traffic time) for office coverage. The rest of the time I can work from home. |
