somebody else needs to post an entry. I don't care what it's about. I need procrastination material.

Suggested topics to get you going:

1. your own homework
2. fears and aspirations
3. what you miss about the 90s
4. what you think about your teeth
5. the evolution of your hairstyle throughout the years
6. your favorite show and why you love it
7. how many times you've seen a mouse run through the dining hall late at night
8. pros and cons self-flushing toilets

ready and go

Analogies [30 Mar 2008|04:01am]
I'm studing translation (1/19210th of all I have to study boooo) and I made a perfect analogy for protein transport (secreted ones)!!!

So when the protein is being made, it is like a baby/child growing up, first it starts in the nucleus, which is home. As it's being made (growing up), it is introduced into the endoplasmic reticulum (school) where it is glycosylated for protection/preparation (learning things, making friends).
When it's all ready, it gets shipped off to the Golgi apparatus (college) in a vesicle (car, plane, trane, plantain), where it gets further glycosylated (more learning and making valuable connections).
When it's all ready again, it gets shipped via vesicle out of the cell and INTO THE REAL WORLD armed with its glycosylation for protection. How sweet.
