Panting and Paving [24 Sep 2007|09:33pm]
So this is the week during which things really start happening. All of my precepts are finalized, I've joined the groups I've needed to join, signed up for the things for which I needed to sign up, and homework is in full swing. The only schedule-related uncertainty left is whether or not I'm going to keep all five classes along with Band, Wind Ensemble, and Clarinet lessons. Yes, I've signed up for lessons and wind ensemble. Not sinfonia, because I won't be able to do it with everything else. I was able to do it last year with PUB, WE, and lessons, but I only had four classes and Band was way less intense outside of football season.

Turns out, my taking MUS 105 class qualifies me for a half-credit on my lesson fee, which is $700 a semester (yeah.). I didn't think it would, as it didn't last year, but I'm really happy it does. Really.

Right now, I'm in the middle of a dilemma involving ordering things off of the internet. You may or may not have heard this boring story:
I originally bought my psychology book here on campus. That was $117.
I decided I didn't want a new psych textbook so that I'd order a used one online and save money.
Originally, all of the cheapest ones were about $70 until I found one - listed as NEW - for $11.50!
I thought, hey, too good to be true, right? But even if it was in TERRIBLE shape, that would still be pretty awesome for that price. I went for it.
Turns out, someone else went for it too. They had to cancel my order pretty much right after I ordered. They said they'd issue a refund for the $18.00ish charge (fast shipping). The refund hasn't yet been applied, and I'm bothered. Maybe four days isn't long enough, since it spanned over the weekend, but man, I want my refund and I want it now.
So I decided to still buy a used psych book, so I went to textbooks.com and ordered on for the $70ish. Then I remembered that I hated textbooks.com because I ordered books from them last semester, and they came really late. I couldn't cancel my order because "Orders cannot be canceled for any reason." What?
This is what needs to happen:
1. I get my psych textbook before October 17, which is the last day to RETURN the new one I bought.
2. The psych book is not in shit condition.
3. I get a FULL refund for my new book. Or else it's not worth it.
4. I get my refund for the first book I ordered!

Also, I bought the MIKA album off of iTunes, and the charge is pending on my credit card, but it's only $1.03. I didn't buy one song, I bought the whole album. What are they talking about? BLAH.

ANYWAY. Here's my schedule.

MONDAY

10-10:50 - Princeton University Reads (Lecture). Lectures by a jolly old british man, with visiting lectures by every author on our reading list who is still alive. It's intense. I'm particularly excited to meet Jeffrey Eugenides because I just read his book Middlesex and I really liked it. I like his style. Also, Joyce Carol Oates and Toni Morrison because they're "famous".

11-11:50 - Introduction to Psychology (Lecture). Material very interesting, professor very engaging. Apparently, it's extremely hard to get a good grade on the exams. Yay.

Lunch break.

1:30 - 4:20 - Psych Lab. Three hours long! But we have gotten out early for the past two times, so that excites me greatly. Today, we played with a virtual frog to figure out its neural network. It was actually kind of neat.

Dinner Break.

7-9 - Wind Ensemble rehearsal. We're probably playing pageant. We sight-read it today, and I completely owned it. I had some nostalgia when thinking of ponies on page three. And how much I loved that last chord. I'm feeling nostalgic now and I'm sad! Boo.

TUESDAY

10-10:50 - Music Theory through Performance and Composition (precept). Haven't had one of these yet.

11-11:50 - Music Theory lecture. Fun so far. Though I must say, the homework is annoying with that retarded tenor clef or alto clef or whatever.

LUNCH BREAK.

1:30 - 2:50 - World Music Cultures (Lecture). Again, taught by a professor who knows his stuff but doesn't feel like teaching it.

4:30-6:30 - PUB music rehearsal.

Dinnoire.

7:30-10:20 - My deathly three-hour Introductory Drawing studio class. It is deathly at night.

WEDNESDAY

10-10:50 Pton Reads lecture.

11-11:50 Psych lecture.

Lunch break.

12:30-1:20 Pton Reads PRECEPT. There are only five people in my precept, and our prof said that he's going to try to get the writers to visit precepts. I'm scared.

1:30-4:20 Drawing again.

la cena break

7:30-9:00 PUB field rehearsal

THURSDAY

10-10:50 Music theory precept.

11-11:50 Music theory lecture.

BUNCH LAKE

1:30 - 2:50 World Music Cultures

(Clarinet lessons scheduled sometime around here)

Dindin.

7:30-9:00 PUB Field rehearsal

FRIDAY
1:30-2:20 EAR TRAININGGGG. Or, "musicianship class".

Whenevertimes - ALLERGY SHOT!

I think this is all. I have a lot of homework to do, including finishing up my drawings of sneakers. Goodbye.
