The hell that is midterm week has finally ended. I sit here typing this from my luxurious bedroom at home, made luxurious only by its juxtaposition to the conditions in which I've been living for the past two months (see facebook). There is food readily available and toilets without mysteriosities on the seats/floor. I can go the the bathroom without curling up my pants and putting shoes on. I can sleep without fear of eating a giant spider.
Summary: I had four midterms and an spanish essay due this week. Here's how it went down:
Monday: Computer Science Midterm 7:30-9:30. I studied the night before and the day of, but apparently it wasn't enough. I don't know my grade on it, but I pretty much knew 1/5 of the test. Tuesday: Spent hellishly studying for philosophy/math and attending classes. Did essay. Went to bed at 4 AM ish. Wednesday: Philosophy (logic) midterm during class, 50 minutes. Should have spent more time studying, but my studying time went mainly to CS and Math during the past few days. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Math Midterm 7:30-9:00. Beast of All Beasts. I had a narrow hoping of completing every question, and I did. I got 56 points out of 80, and with all stupid errors gone I may have gotten 60/80 (yeah it was hard). The curve meant that 56/80 = B minus. I was happy with that. Afterwards I let myself do nothing and watch tv. Thursday: Spent all day procrastinating and studying for spanish/doing weeks of spanish hw at the library. Attended sinfonia and got ass kicked by conductor because I can't transpose up a whole step when there are 3 flats in the key signature and I'm reading a piece for the 2nd time. Afterwards, hung out in an open practice room with the buttery sounding steinway. Got really sad while playing songs because I really really really miss playing piano all the time like I used to. Friday: Spanish midterm in the morning. Not bad at all, should have studied a bit more. Afterwards, picked up my math midterm. Afterwards, bought stuff at the Ustore. Afterwards, went to clarinet lessons, which were actually fun (I'm good at sight reading mozart and nothing else, apparently). Hard to adapt to a completely different school of clarinet thought from Joe's. Afterwards, cleaned. Afterwards, got all my stuff/dad picked me up/went home!!!!!
Since I hadn't eaten anything but a coffee granola bar (more on those amazing things later) at 9 AM, by 5pm being on the road, I was severely headached and stomach growling. Yay for dehydration and pseudo starvation. I've been eating everything under the sun since. I really thought I gained weight but I didn't. Still my same summer weight. I just feel flabbier.
Okay so I don't like anything that's coffee flavored except coffee, and I don't like granola bars. By my aunt got me these granola bars and I wish I could remember the name...but they have REAL COFFEE in them and for some reason they taste so gooood. Also, they give me energy which not even coffee does anymore. So if you like coffee, you should try these. If I ever remember what the name is. Caribou something?
Things I now don't take for granted: -food -open space -unfailure -practicing alone, unheard -being able to go for a run without anyone seeing you -high school -the way old friends were -jeans that fit -time -meat -sweatshirts
