    Time Event
    7:26p
    Sydney
I've been thinking lately about the city I live in. Even though I have seen many beautiful cities of this world, I have always felt that Sydney is particularly spectacular. It's become home to me. I love the big, bright blue sky, the ever-present Harbour, the showy architecture, the warm weather.

I was out and about in the city last Saturday with Geoff, and we were walking through Circular Quay. We started walking towards Miller's Point, and ended up underneath the Harbour Bridge. It was about 4pm. We thought that we would have some nice, quiet couple time, but it seems that many other couples were thinking that, too. We saw over TEN bridal parties in that area, all jostling for a bit of grass with a Harbour view for their wedding photos. It was astonishing. Each bridal party had to create their own space (sort of like when you are doing aerobics at the gym) so that they did not accidentally cross over into someone else's wedding photos. There were so many brides of different cultural backgrounds. We saw a couple of Japanese brides in big, bright white princess-like gowns. There was a bronzed Aussie chick with a strapless dress that was slashed up to her thigh (and she looked great, too!). There was a Hispanic bride with a dress that was sort of in between the boofy Japanese ones and the Sass and Bide-like slashed one. It was quite bizarre, when I began to think about it. I mean, do New Yorkers jostle to have wedding photographs with the Statue of Liberty in the background?

I have also been thinking about my future in Sydney. Like, when did Sydney suddenly become an Expensive City To Live In, like London and New York? I used to think that half a million dollars was heaps of money; now that's how much you need for a little house in the 'burbs. One of my friends was telling me that they know a guy who has a super-slick apartment in a trendy Brisbane suburb. The apartment was only around $200 000. That is cheap, compared to Sydney! Sydney is such a great city, though. I want to at least try living here as a grown-up before I give it up.

Here's a tip for you fellow Sydneysiders, for when it rains: never, ever stand underneath the Monorail track in the city when it is raining. Because, when the Monorail goes past, you will get DRENCHED in water! I speak from experience. I have done it TWICE, because I always forget. Fortunately, I had a particularly cute new umbrella with me today. It is clear, with a bright purple handle, with fluoro pink and purple daisies on it. It is totally Betty and Veronica!

    Until next time, readers!
