I have a friend, and his name is Sal Monella. He's kinda mean, but he gets me days off work.

    Dear readers,

As you know, I have been feeling great pangs of guilt regarding my change in blogging habits. Since working fulltime, I no longer have the time to write more leisurely entries (e.g. "Today I ate a pie" or "Today I had a thought, about a thing"). Instead, you now get a weekly entry that has been tumbling around my mind for a couple of days. Which is quite a nice thing, because then I don't ramble as much. You must understand, dear readers, that I have had complaints that my paragraphs are too long (yes Leigh, I am talking about you).

My life was becoming pretty hectic, with lots of time spent on public transport and at work. But then: WHAM! I had the good fortune of becoming sick, and then being able to take a few days off work. If I could go back in time, this is the conversation I would have with myself before my mysterious illness occurred:

Mum: "Carla, I made you some chicken and pasta salad for lunch. But I don't think you should eat it, because it might be off."
Past Carla: "Oh, no, I bet it's fine, Mum. Thanks heaps for making it."
Future Carla: "ARE YOU DEAF? SHE SAID NOT TO EAT IT! DON'T EAT IT- YOU'LL GET SALMONELLA FOOD POISONING AND BE FORCED TO EAT ONLY VEGEMITE SANDWICHES FOR TWO WEEKS! TWO WEEKS!"

And so, after many tummy aches, I found myself with a doctor's certificate in my pocket. I had two very nice days off of watching "Felicity" and lying about on the couch moaning about how sick I was. On the first day of my salmonella poisoning (I like writing those words- I feel exciting) I grabbed my uni student boyfriend (who is always home because he studies via correspondance), and off we went for a frolic at the local shops. And then we went to the park during the late afternoon, when the sun was all nice and golden.

I realise that I might slowly lose readers if I keep writing about my boyfriend so much, which I do understand. I'll try to keep it short this time. I just wanted to say that Geoff is SO NICE to me! Whenever we go shopping, he always carries my bags for me. He lets me eat cake even though he knows I'll get a tummy ache after (like I said, eating Vegemite sandwiches all the time is BOR-ING). And, ever so wonderfully, he even models for me. Which is really special, seeing as I have to pay my sister to model for me now. Unfortunately, I forced her to do too many crazy things at too many yucky hours, e.g. put a telephone on her head at 8am; jump around heaps outside our house just after a sizeable dinner. But Geoff is just lovely: I'll say, "Hey Geoff, see that dry creek bed? Why don't you crawl into it and then stand really still in uncomfortable poses so I can take photos of you," or, "Geoff, can you please stand in the middle of this parking lot while people are staring at you, so that I can take photos?" And he's all like, "Sure honey, whatever you want." Oooooh!

But, dear readers, it all comes back to one thing: YOU. Yes, I realised that I had neglected you also with the lack of pictures in my blog. As many children say: what is the point of reading something if there's no pictures? So here are some new ones for your viewing pleasure. I used my old 1970's Olympus SLR camera, and it was nice to have a camera that had a focus lense and an aperture. That photo of Geoff in the park where it is kind of pale and stripey on the left was how the film came out- pretty cool, huh?

Can you believe that it was a whole year ago that I was working at Myer, icing people's names onto Easter eggs for a couple of bucks? My heart was broken over a boy at that time, and I had four different jobs. How things have changed, in what feels like such a short span of time. Thanks for sticking by me and reading about my life, even during those tough times. And even when you read posts with no pictures. You're a very patient bunch.

    Love,
    Carla Gypsygirl xxx
