New Year's Eve with a special friend Oooh...New Year's Eve. I LOVE New Year's Eve. This year's was fab. I spent the afternoon with my special boy(sorry to keep teasing you all...details next entry, really!). We had decided to go to the Dendy Cinemas near the Opera House to see a film. It was funny- they had these security gates set up just in front of the Opera House, with people checking your bags for bombs and stuff. Unfortunately, the lady who checked my bag didn't know that I was a gypsy, so when she peeked into my bag, she was greeted by my pyjama boxer shorts (they're blue with pictures of cows jumping over stars and stuff), a pink toothbrush, a t-shirt from the last Vines concert and an advice book on Christian romance, amongst many other things. Poor thing- she looked pretty embarrassed.
As my boy can speak French and hangs out on the cultured side of life (he disses my Britney CDs, and I'm STILL going out with him- I must like him a lot), we went to see "Apres Vous", a cute French comedy. You so have to see it- I laughed so much! The humour is subtle-yet-slapstick, which my special friend tells me is characteristic of French comedies. After that, we tripped off for Vietnamese food in Chinatown. The boy was feeling adventurous (it was New Year's Eve, after all!), so he ordered the mysterious Rainbow Drink. Unfortunately, he couldn't hack it- the layers of mung beans, red syrup and coconut stuff caused the mind and tastebuds to boggle. I figured that, as I was Asian, I should have an innate appreciation of such mysterious liquids. But alas, Carla Gypsygirl's tongue didn't favour the Rainbow Drink either. It was just orange juice for the rest of the dinner for the boy and me.
And THEN, hurrah, me and my special friend headed off to our mate's place for a party! We couldn't see the fireworks, because all the trees were in the way. But we didn't care. We were at Melissa and Bron and Sarah's place- three girls from my old church. And all of our favourite friends were there. There were candles everywhere, and lots of hugs to be had. My friend Mel Dunne bought me Christmas present from Rome- a t-shirt that says "SAVE THE MONKEY" on it. And I wore it all night! This year, I made sure I stayed away from Frangelico and swimming pools. And oooooh, lucky me, getting to hug someone special when the clock struck twelve...
Oh yay. Someone special is back from frisbee practice. A phone call needs to be made. Wasn't I writing about New Year's Eve? As you can tell, I'm a bit distracted...an explanation is coming soon. Let's just say that Darcy and Elizabeth knew what they were doing. |
