    Time Event
    12:13p
    The kids are all right
I'm at home today, feeling sorry for myself, because once again, Carla Gypsygirl has a cold! Noooo! I don't know what it is with me and my immune system- like, I feed it carrots and tomatoes and Ribena and other healthy things, but it still can't fight back colds!

I was watching TV while I was eating breakfast, and happened to flick over to Sesame Street. And guess what I saw? Big Bird and this little bear analysing a Jackson Pollock painting! "This reminds me of ice-cream," Big Bird was saying, "when you're walking down the sidewalk and you drip your ice-cream everywhere." Then the bear replied, "Yes, only Jackson Pollock knew what he was doing, and you don't." And then, after that segment, what should come up next but an animated Toulouse-Lautrec illustration of can-can dancers, so that kids can recognise the letter "D" is for "Dancers"! I certainly don't remember kids' television being so cultured when I was an official child. I can't decide if what I saw was cultural or just a pop rip-off. Anyway, at least it explains why none of the kids at the childcare centre want to talk about "Australian Idol" with me.

As you may know, when Carla Gypsygirl gets sick, it often occurs after something big has happened in her life. Don't worry, it has nothing to do with boys this time (thank goodness)! It's more about decisions that I keep making about my extremely varied career. It was so awesome to go to church last night, and to be reminded that Jesus said this: "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?" (Mark 8:36) So many things in this world seem so enticing, like fame and wealth. And yet, I know that Jesus offers true, real life- a relationship with my Creator. I feel so blessed to know the truth, and I hope I can follow it with all my heart. I'm glad that God gives me the strength to do that.

"The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." (Zephaniah 3:17)
