    Gimme!

Last weekend was a weekend of gastronomic and social delights. On Friday night, Kara and I went to see a production of "The Taming of the Shrew" at The Star of the Sea theatre in Manly. It was so funny! It was done in the style of commedia de l'arte, so there were musicians on stage making sound effects to the actors' exaggerated movements, as well as very richly coloured costumes. I love theatre so much- going to theatre always makes me want to act again. On Saturday, I headed off to Ross and Rachel's place in Earlwood. They were so sweet- they totally opened up their home to me! Rachel cooked this amazing pumpkin soup, and she also MADE HER OWN BREAD. An accomplished woman or what? Then, we rounded the meal off with this weird cake I made from egg whites, sugar, chopped up chocolate and dates. It was actually quite delicious and gourmet. Then Ross went out to play golf, and Rachel and I lazed about her lounge room watching the DVD of her wedding and looking at her wedding photos. And then yesterday...oh joy. I found myself in the car with everyone in my family (except for Derrick, who is doing the HSC, poor lad), whizzing over the Harbour Bridge on the way to the French Riviera Cafe in Double Bay. "Last time I went there, I had such a huge ice-cream. It was so delicious. I ate three-quarters of it, and then thought I was going to vomit!" Sonya told me excitedly. "It sounds great!" Zachary exclaimed. Sonya wasn't exaggerating- the ice-creams there were HUGE, GINORMOUS, MASSIVE...you get the idea. My dad polished off a sundae that looked like it had a litre and more of ice-cream in it. I was rocking back and forth in bliss as I ate my fluffy waffle with smooth vanilla ice-cream, frilly cream and maple syrup. Who says that only Dads can enjoy Fathers' Day?

And, ladies and gentlemen, it's the moment you've all been waiting for: THE SUMMARY OF THE SEASON! Look, I'm a big fan of hooded coats, hot chocolate and gumboots, but ain't it grand to see the sun out again?
