Me and my friend the pudding I was supposed to be hanging out with a few different friends this week, but they cancelled. I felt really sad and lonely about that, which was a bit strange. So I made a pudding for my family on Friday night, and it cheered me up! It was a lemon delicious pudding, and it was THE BEST PUDDING IN THE WORLD- fluffy golden sponge with gooey lemon sauce at the bottom, hooray! New advice for the lonely: if in doubt, bake!
What a joy it is to see the sun shining. I know that the rain is good for the plants and the farms, but it IS nice to be able to wear skirts and thongs and sunnies again.
On Saturday night, I ventured out to see the Caecilius boys play their first proper gig. Well, I did see them the Saturday before, but that was at a wedding, and Geoff was restraining himself from his usual crazy moves. This weekend's gig was interesting. The boys played really well- they always do! Their jazz pop rock stuff really hits the spot. Nate was whacking the drums with passion and flashing his new tattoo, and Andrew looked calm and groovy as always. Geoff thrashed out some new dance moves. What I didn't realise, though, was that the gig was a youth gig- hence, most of the people in the hall were under sixteen. So there was a bit of a school disco vibe happening- especially when everyone lined up at the canteen for canned soft drink during the break. Before the gig started, Geoff pointed at me and said, "You have to dance." I didn't want to say no, because the boys looked a little nervous about playing. So during the second song, Meg and I leapt up to the front and started shaking our booties, whooping and waving our arms about! The kids thought that we were weird, but hey- a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, especially when some of her favourite boys are performing their little hearts out.
On Sunday, I went to the annual Fifties Fair at Rose Seidler House. I dressed up especially this year- I wore a red dress with white polka dots on it, a black v-neck t-shirt, fake pearls and Mary Janes. Sort of "Stepford Wives" meets Minnie Mouse. I was grinning a lot yesterday- the sun was out, there were boxes of chunky old keys for $3 each, and loads and loads of beautiful second-hand clothes. I was totally blissed out. So many people were dressed up- it was fantastic! There were boys in bowling shirts with their hair in quiffs, and lots of girls in full skirts, red lipstick and cat-like eyeliner. Ah...to wear a poodle skirt and drink a milkshake by the jukebox. If only. |
