    Time Event
    4:58p
    Work it, girl!

Jennifer and I took our two illustration classes to Luna Park on Monday for a drawing excursion, and I had the best day! It was a lovely warm day, and I got to lounge around in the sun a lot and take a lot of photos. The harbour was glittering, and of course, there were those stellar Harbour Bridge and Opera House views. One of my students, Vanessa (who is also a Christian, yay!) forced me to go down the slides inside Coney Island, and it was so cool and scary! Lee (another one of my students) did not succeed in getting me to go down the highest and steepest of the slides. It's useful to be a teacher then- you can just say, "Go and do more drawings," in a haughty voice. It didn't work, though, because then Lee tried to physically drag me up the stairs to the slide. So it is slightly problematic to teach boys who are bigger than you are. I, of course, outwitted him with a few sharp pokes and punches. Then all of the students went home early, so I soaked up more sun before heading home. How grand- to be paid to have fun at Luna Park and have an early mark!

Things have been pretty yucky and hectic otherwise, though. I might not be able to update that frequently for the next two weeks, because I'll be flat out with work. I've been working seven days a week for the past three weeks. I'm co-teaching Illustration 1 and 2 at Winter School at the university at the moment, and it's an intensive program, so I've been there three full days a week. Plus there's my design work as well as childcare, so I've been pretty frazzled! Working this much is not very healthy, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it. So of course, I was quite pleasantly surprised at what "work" involved this Monday.

Oh, and we just got cable Internet! How exciting! Everything is so much quicker, and it's so much easier to send design attachments now. This, however, will feed my e-mail and blog addiction, which may be a cause for concern. Also a cause for concern is this weird habit that I have acquired of winking at people (eg. "Thanks for the coffee, Mr Waiter," [wink]), and eating biscuits all the time. Call me old-fashioned, but Iced Vovos are just too irresistible.
