    Time Event

    Hyper-mobility is where it's at
I don't know if you guys know this, but I am an A-grade nerd. Sometimes I can disguise this by wearing contact lenses and using an antihistamine nasal spray, but there are some days when your nasal spray runs out and you find yourself sneezing during a rock concert, and feeling a bit exposed. Take today, for instance. I did some hardcore shopping today- a new handbag, underwear, shampoo, that sort of thing. Also on the list was a new pair of Mary Janes. But alas, it seems that it is impossible to wear fashionable shoes if you are an orthotics wearer like me. Eventually, after looking through a lot of the fashionable boutiques, I found myself in this shoe store for old ladies. And guess what? That's right, I didn't find any shoes. Looks like I'll have to keep plodding around in my sticky-taped Mary Janes for a little while longer. Or, just buy those funky metallic blue Doc's I saw the other day. But seriously, if I was a boy in the 1940's or whatever, I would never have been allowed in the army- I'm both long and short sighted, I have allergies, I wear orthotics, I'm hyper-mobile (which means that my bones are extra flexible and I think that makes me a bit clumsy...OR just a fantastic candidate to be a contortionist) AND I'm weak and uncoordinated! And just don't tell anyone how addicted I am to my blog!

Today, my friend Maree is leaving to follow her dream and live in London! She is definitely someone who isn't nerdy- she has this hip mohawky thing happening with her hair (which is probably why some people call her "Elvis"), and she is also a very cool designer. I hope that she has a really amazing time. It can be a hard thing to follow your dream. I think that for some people (like me), following your dream gets harder as you get older, because you realise that life is a little harder than you thought that it was going to be. So I admire Maree for what she is doing. PLUS she has a really cool address- she is going to live above a pub called The Duke of Wellington! Maree has been so much fun to work with at Grace Bros- she always listened to my secrets, and she was great to laugh with. Plus she knows about three boys I had crushes on. I'm going to miss her a lot. When I became her friend, I realised that you can never have too many friends, because everyone that God makes has something wonderful and sweet and sparkly inside of them.

I was pretty sick yesterday, so I stayed home and felt a bit sorry for myself. I rented "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", and I really liked it! It was very funny and also very romantic! I just love love love romantic comedies. I love how they are so predictable, yet still so engaging and fun. And I love how the characters are always well-dressed, and how the soundtracks always border on cool and daggy, and how the boy and girl always get together in the end. Plus I love all of the token "weird best friends" and "mean boss/landlord/exes", and all of the silly jokes. I wonder if the romantic comedy is viewed as a strange thing in Eastern countries, just like how we find Bollywood movies odd.

Anyway, because I felt all tired and gross, I decided to have a bath last night, and it was the best bath that I've had in ages! It was so nice to lie there in the hot water and listen to my favourite bath music (Merril Bainbridge's first album, if you must know), as well as the rain outside in between songs. I turned off the lights and had these coconut scented candles burning, and a single frangipani flower for company. I used this vanilla scented bubble bath bar that my sister bought for me about a year ago. It's really cool- you break off a piece of it and crumble it under running bath water (it has the consistency of dry playdough), and it melts and turns into bubbles! Then I also chucked in some of these strawberry scented bath salts that I got from my Kow Foo ("mum's younger brother uncle dude" in Cantonese) at Christmas. I love having baths, because it makes me appreciate the way God has made me (I was only joking about being annoyed about having allergies and stuff, by the way). "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. " (Psalm 139:14) So I emerged from the bath feeling all drowsy and pampered, and smelling just good enough to eat. Though my rockstar brother referred to the delicious smell in the bathroom as "bath stink". Of course he would say that- he's a boy!
