Lots of exciting things (a good weekend, lip gloss, and a new friend!) Okay, so maybe Valentine's Day isn't so bad after all. Actually, I might actually like it! Don't worry, though, dear readers, your Spacegirl hasn't gone and found herself a Spaceboy or anything like that, she just had a better weekend at work than she usually does.
On Saturday morning, I woke up in this really yucky mood. Once I got to the top of the escalators, my mood got even worse! I could see all of this red and white, extending before my eyes, on racks of cards and tables of chocolates. I shook my fist at the cards again and gave the stand a swift little kick. But then, Debbie asked me to help finish setting up one of the Valentine's Day tables. I told Debbie, "I'll do it, but I'll have you know that I hate Valentine's Day!" But then Erin gave me a hug, and said, "I'm sorry that I don't hate Valentine's Day anymore," which made me feel a little sad. Because you see, Erin and I became Grace-Bros-best-friends around Valentine's Day a couple of years ago, when we were both single. It was always something we laughed about together. But last year, Erin met this boy called Mina, who she is head-over-pointy-heels in love with, so she can't exactly throw all of the chocolates and roses and bath salts back in his face. Because that would just be mean. Anyway, once Erin and I got started on the display table, I sheepishly began to notice that all of the toys were kinda cute. It also felt nice to make a table up of pretty things like hearts and teddy bears and things like that. So that's how I started to like Valentine's Day. Oh, and also, during stocktake, some of these Grace Bros girls were reading some of the cards out aloud, and they were so corny that it was funny!
I had a really fun weekend when I wasn't at work, too. I went to Jazz in the Domain with some of my new Beachmission friends on Saturday night, and that was really nice. I'm not that into jazz, though, so it took me awhile to get my head around how the music worked. And on Sunday, I hung out with my new friend Russell, who is from Beachmission and also my new church! Russell is soooooo cool. He used to teach Karate, and he manages to say "bang!" somehow every time I have a conversation with him. We're on the exact same level of craziness and positivity, AND he also wears really bright and colourful clothes! Currently, we're both working on an entirely new slang vocabulary, and let me tell you, there's going to be nothing spiky (ie. sucky) about it! Russell picked me up after work yesterday, and I went over to his house, and guess what? Not only does Russell live by the water in Putney, he also has TWO LIZARDS. And I TOUCHED one of them! I touched the one called Samson. The other lizard's name is Delilah. Russell's older brother also has a rainbow hammock in his bedroom, and I got to sit in it!
Oh, and guess what else? Two things. One is that I caught another cold, which is kind of annoying, but I also knew that I had it coming because I kept working when I had my other one. The second one is so so so exciting! I found out today that Midway Pharmacy sells VANILLA LIPSMACKERS! Do you know how exciting that is?! I haven't seen vanilla-flavoured Lipsmackers for, like, five or six years! They smell like caramel donuts, and are so much nicer than the stronger fruity flavours. I was so excited, that I bought three. I also bought these Difflam cough lollies, which are really weird. They're quite anarchic- like, they're anti- everything (anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory). They make my tongue go all numb! But, like a lot of things, that was fixed up by eating chocolate. Chocolate, along with gelato and Mint Chocolate Ice Magic, is good for the soul. Remember that, dear readers, as you head out into your Tuesday. | | 11:00p |
"I still love you, fish from Mars" (guitar, guitar, guitar) Today and yesterday I forced myself to stay at home and relax, in an effort of passive resistance towards my new stupid cold. Hopefully it will be gone soon. It might sound silly, but I find it really hard to relax! I think that because I'm so go-go-go-go-go, I feel like I could be doing so many other fun or useful things instead of lying around. I was lying down today, and it felt too weird. So I painted my nails this sparkly purple (the colour was called "Veronica Electronica"), because that way, the polish could dry while I was lying down. Fortunately, I had my fellow crazycat Russell sending me amusing text-messages so that I didn't feel too sorry for myself! He's so funny- he has like this problem with his car, with it always smelling weird. Like, he's had an Ambi-Pur incident, where he put it in upside-down and it leaked everywhere. I got this message from him today that informed me that he'd left this take-out container of Chinese noodles and rice in the backseat of his car from when we hung out on Sunday. So now his car is totally el-stinko!
I was watching "Bridget Jones' Diary" tonight, only I had to stop, because my baby brother Zachary kept wandering around the place, and I didn't want him to hear the F-word. So I switched over to "Josie and the Pussycats". But then my dad decided to do the vacuuming and I couldn't hear the dialogue anymore, so I took a break from watching the movie and went to play with makeup instead. Because Tara Reid, who plays Melody in "Josie", was wearing this super-shifty fluoro green eyeshadow, and I wanted to emulate her! So I found some of my sister's bright blue eyeshadow, and I put it on, only it was more silvery than blue. So now I look kind of like a fish who is about to take a trip down a high fashion runway. That is, I look pretty silly.
Oh, and just so you know, I'm feeling extra pumped about writing today, because this really nice girl called Meiying (hopefully I spelt it right) left a really lovely comment on my last entry! I keep tried to e-mail her once, but it didn't work, so I figured that if I wrote something here, then she'd read it. Plus I left a reply to her reply on yesterday's entry. I think that it's so nice how some people take the time and effort to say nice things to other people! It's like smiling at strangers in the street, or saying "thank you" to the bus driver, or writing "love" at the end of e-mails instead of "from". Totally more worth it than you could ever imagine, my friends.
Oh, and guess what else? I turn twenty-two in eight days! Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah! |
