    Time Event
    10:09p
    actual spontaneity
You know how I've been writing about being more spontaneous? Well, on Sunday night, I decided that this up-coming Saturday I will be going down (or up? Never sure) to Wyong to camp there for five days. I've decided that I want to be more gypsy-like- you know: coming and going, sleeping under the stars, making music, spreading love and joy. Remembering that I came into this world with no material possessions, and that I'm not going to leave this world with any, either. That sort of thing.

This is how it happened. I was at my new church this Sunday (Christ Church Gladesville- more explaining about that later), when my friend Rebecca started talking about the Beachmission that a lot of the gang are going to this week. It all sounded so exciting that I said, "I wish that I could go, too!" Then Rebecca said that actually, I could! Turns out that a lot of girls dropped out of Beachmission, and they needed people to fill their places. I'm only going for half the time, and coming in this late means that I skipped all of the stressful planning bit beforehand. I think that God and His plan are really cool! Like, I really really really wanted to go on a mission this year, but was too tired and frazzled to do any of the planning that's involved. Then this Beachmission pops up out of nowhere, and voila, adventure and ministry and fun and lots lots more, all in one! Oh, and in case you are wondering, a Beachmission is when a group of Christians (from twenty of them to maybe forty or fifty) head down to a campsite or a caravan park or a church near a beach where lots of people are holidaying. These Christians then run events (like stuff for kids, and concerts, and carnivals), with the good news about Jesus at the centre of them.

I'm really excited about this! I'm heading down (or up?! Still not sure!) to Wyong by train on Saturday evening, which should be beautiful. It's the same route as the one to Gosford Station, where I was going in July when I went to Terrigal. That train trip features lots of water and trees and seaside villages, PLUS this time I'll be doing it by twilight! I'm really looking forward to bonding intensively with my friends at my new church. It's going to be so cool to get away from working and worrying about my future (still haven't joined the circus!), and just to start living my life and having adventures.

Oh, and it's New Year's Eve tomorrow! I love the word "Eve"- it sounds so ancient and special. New Year's Eve always sneaks up on me. I always forget about it in the hype of Christmas, and all of a sudden, I turn around and here's this smiley looking night to spend with my friends! My buddy Chris Vanden Hengel is having a party in Penshurst, which is where MEG lives! So I'm spending the night at Meg's. Hurrah! This New Year's Eve, I am determined not to chase any boys. Because it is such a bad night to do it (too much pressure!), and anyway, it was one of my New Year's Resolutions of 2003 (this year! Not next year) to stop chasing boys, and I have to stick by my word!
