new post-everything theories One of my latest theories regarding the post-uni world is this: that trying to find a job is much like the game of love. Oh yes indeedy, dear readers. You see, I was chatting to a friend of mine who had been to an interview for a design job. She hadn't heard from the firm in three days, and she was like, "Do I call them? Do I wait for them to call me?" I was also talking to my teacher Andrew about how to approach getting a design job, and he said, "Let them think that you have lots of other things on. Don't let them think that you're hanging around, waiting for them to call." And I said, "But I DO have lots of other things on!" Then there's the whole "What do I wear?" thing, and trying not to act too excited when they call. Though I always blow that one.
My sister is going to meet John Howard today- it has something to do with her winning another scholarship. She said that she was going to wear her stilettos, but she decided not to, because she didn't want to make Johnny feel shorter than he already is. That is so Nicole-and-Tom of her!
Oh, very exciting- I'm seeing Derrick perform again tonight at another school thing of his! And this time, there's prize money involved! Sonya is coming with me, and we are going to scream as loud as we can. Derrick and the Year 11 Band (I seriously think that that is an excellent name for a band) are performing last tonight, which is a sure sign that they are the coolest band in school. My brother was telling me how these little girls in a band dressed up like Avril in trucker hats and performed this Good Charlotte song for the auditions. He was quite disgusted. I thought that they sounded so cute and gutsy!
More proper updates coming soon, I assure you. Everything is still in post-everything disarray. The piece of scrap paper that was acting as my organiser-diary thing went missing for awhile, but I found it again! I still find it hard to remember what day it is, though. All I know is that there are nice pictures to be drawn. |
