    Time Event
    10:45p
    the heart in the suitcase
You know, I just realised this afternoon that, for the past few days, I've been running around like crazy! Mostly it's been uni work. Since I figured out what I was doing with my project, I've tried to get as much work done as I can. For the past couple of days, I've been planning this photoshoot around one of my characters in my story, Kate. You see, she has a fragile heart (because it's been broken so many times), and so she has to carry it around in a suitcase. Then the boy that she loves, Toby, asks her to open the suitcase. She's afraid to open it, but when she does, there's a wonderful surprise in there- the heart has multiplied into hundreds of hearts! So, this morning I was running around my neighbourhood with a red suitcase, scattering red cardboard hearts all over the footpaths and roads, and taking Polaroids of them. It was lots of fun, but also really exhausting. Because I'm posing as Katie in the photos, I had to do a lot of costume changes as well. Yesterday, I found myself holed up in a photobooth at Macquarie Centre, holding up a red heart to the invisible camera. Yes, the crazy life of the design student gains momentum once again. I've also been painting a few scenes for another series within my book thing (it isn't a book, but it's too Avril to explain). The series is called "Did you make us for each other?", and it consists of all of these different landscapes (eg. cityscapes, a beach, a rainbow, a jungle). I hadn't started the beach scene, and the white page was freaking me out. I said a little prayer in my head to get started. God is so awesome- He helped me to create this really textured, cold, wintery beach scene! I dig it! I couldn't do anything without Him.

Another thing that I dig is this: realising that yes, the customer CAN be right! You see, customers are always coming up to me at work and saying, "Big W is selling this book for $10 less than you guys, can you price match?" And I'm always like, "Yeah, like, whatever. Big W sells below our cost price, so that's a 'no', dude." Though, of course, I phrase it less colloquially and do a few salesgirl flourishes. Anyway, it's TRUE- Big W IS cheaper! You know how I've been drooling over the third "Princess Diaries" book since April? Well, at my work, it's $12.95, and at Big W, it's $8 and something! To a struggling design student, that's a big difference. So me and Mia and Michael Mosocovitz are once again happily reunited. I'm going to get ready for bed now so that I can read it.
