tossing and turning and spinning around I've been wanting to write another webjournal entry for awhile. Mostly because the last entry had a bit of a poo-pooey vibe to it. I've realised that I'm actually quite stressed at the moment about everything. It's kinda hard to get to sleep at night, because there's so many things to think about- the project, the future, sponsors, just life in general. I love how God tells me not to worry, though, because He'll take care of everything.
The weekend was loads of fun! My project has been a bit frustrating lately. It continues to change form every week. One moment it's a book, then it's a "thing" (as my teacher Andrew so fondly calls it), then it's seven boxes plus a photocopied book, then it's a box with cards in it. Then again, my dissertation was also constantly changing forms, and that ended up working out quite well. Anyway, I decided to take a break from the project this weekend and do a bit of much-needed gallivanting and frolicking. Friday night featured a visit back to my old church, St Dunstan's. The youth group had this Christian rock band called Me and Ty visiting. Me and Ty is kinda famous in the Australian Christian scene. So you can imagine my surprise to discover that Ty from Me and Ty is in fact Tyler. And who is Tyler? My friend Clio's boyfriend! I had met Tyler once before Friday night, and so before Clio turned up, Tyler and I were looking at each other kinda funny. It was so excellent seeing Clio. She was one of my close friends in high school, and her sunny example (she was always saying things like "Jesus rocks!") really encouraged me to become a Christian. It was also wonderful seeing a lot of the kids that I used to teach in Bible study last year. Most of them are in senior school now, and are youth leaders themselves. It's really exciting to see them so interested in God and following His way of life. Because you become so concerned for them when you're leading them. Of course, there were things to catch up on- boy stories, HSC major works and the ways they were telling their friends about Jesus! I also spoke to the people who used to teach ME the Bible- Steve and Alison Claxton, as well as this other lady, Saffron. Steve and Alison are going to have their first child in December, and Saffron just had her baby Selwyn five months ago. I love how God puts certain people in my life at the right time. They were all giving me positive advice about my secret plans for next year...
On Sunday, I got up early and trooped down to Petersham to visit Meg at church while she taught Sunday school. I was the special guest for the day, and most of the kids already knew me from the Petersham mission at the end of last year. I got to answer questions like, "How old are you?", "How many brothers and sisters do you have?" and "Do you still live with the fairies?" Thank goodness Meg is such a patient soul, though- the kids were so crazy yesterday! And this was even after they'd run around playing soccer! Then Meg and I headed down to Rose Seidler House to meet my sister for the annual Fifties Fair. We'd never been before, and it was so cool! There were quite a lot of people our own age there. A lot of girls dressed up in fifties gear- dresses with full skirts, cats-eye sunglasses, quiffed hair. Meg was quite entranced by the rock'n'roll dancers, while Sonya and I stocked up on a whole lot of fantastic second-hand stuff. Sonya picked up some original 50's dress patterns (perfect for aspiring fashion designers) as well as a gorgeous floral hatbox for $15. I bought this funny red suitcase, a fake pink pearl necklace to wear as a bracelet, and this teal pleated skirt. I'm feeling a bit resentful towards all the stuff that I bought, though. Isn't it funny how you can have feelings for inanimate objects as though they were human beings?
Anyway, gotta go. It's almost 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and I haven't done any uni work yet! Well, not officially, anyway.
