i'll get outta here soon, really... Don't get too excited, readers- I haven't returned yet! Actually, I haven't even left. I just thought that I'd update you on a few very recent and very exciting events.
Scott, one of my dearest friends in the world, is going to come along with me for the first day of MYC! Isn't that dreadfully exciting? It is to me, anyway. Scott is a sweetheart. Last year sometime (or maybe it was the year before that?), he agreed to be my older brother, because I've never had one. And he does the job wonderfully- he drives me places, asks questions about boys in my life, and lets me get all sobby on him. He's the best! I'd write heaps more about him, only he gets a little embarrassed in a Charlie Brown kinda way when I rave on about him too much in here. Anyway, he's dropping by to hang with me and the FEVA crew on Monday. It's really cool to have someone special come along for the adventure. I hope that he can experience the total grooviness of FEVA that always captures my heart.
When I returned to work on Thursday after my battle with The Flu (he's nearly gone now!), everyone was so lovely. "Are you okay?" they all asked me. Erin was working that day. She is such a wonderful girl- so lively and fun and colourful. We always seem to have boy problems in common! I worked again today, and the ladies there are so nice. Everyone who works in the book department is either in their twenties, or in their fifties-to-sixties. The older ladies there (Mala, Enid, Gaye, Debbie, Anne, Gina and Dianne) are such sweeties. Working with them is like having seven extra mothers. They are always so interested in my adventures, boy woes and health. Today, I told Enid, "I have a sudden urge to do a cartwheel!" Which was strange in itself, seeing as I can't cartwheel (which is rather unfortunate, as I believe every girl ought to know how to). Enid replied with, "That won't be a good idea. What if you collide with someone else doing a cartwheel?"
Meanwhile, there has been no word from the original boy who can fly. Hmmmm. I am content, though, to think that everything is going well with him and me. As is everything with uni. Anyway, I was watching "Never Been Kissed" last night with my teenage siblings, and it was the prom scene. Drew Barrymore's character, Josie, had just been named prom queen, and she was dancing with the boy who was named prom king. As they were dancing, he said to her, "Josie, you rock my world." And at that moment, I thought to myself, "THAT is what you are aiming for, Carla!" Doesn't every girl want to be told that they rock someone's world? Then after "Never Been Kissed", my sister put on "Josie and the Pussycats". I love that movie! And so, if the original boy who can fly doesn't show, well hey, then I can just write another angsty rock song, right? And, of course, conquer the world with my pop/rock ditties and rock star style. |
