    and there was no paparazzi!
I ended up going to the fashion show last night. I have to say that I saw the best and funniest fashion parade there in my life! Instead of the usual solo model storming down the indoor catwalk, we ended up waiting outside in the cold night at one of the univesity courtyards for the models to turn up. When the forty or so models came out, they strolled up in this big group and just sort of stood around, talking to each other! In fact, they weren't models at all, but university friends and their friends all dolled up in funky red and gold make-up and wearing each others' creations. The idea was that they'd pose to the people standing inside, who were looking at the catwalk from the ceiling-high windows. But I think that the models got a bit confused, because they were asking each other, "What do we do now? Do we turn around and go back inside?" I think a lot of the models were also confused about the attitude they were projecting- some of the boys were doing the angsty, disinterested thing, a lot of the girls were looking very poised, and a lot of people just had their normal faces happening. Some of my classmates were leaning up against poles and being silly and sneering, it was really funny! I don't know if the final year fashion students appreciated how disorganised and unchoreographed it was, but I loved it. It was pretty refreshing to see something that was unstructured and messy and real. I liked how it was so unpretentious and how they looked like they were having a lot of fun. I love it when a sense of real human accident and enjoyment permeates events.
