"...and i also like long walks along the beach..." I think that one of the best things about being super-busy is that it makes everything else seem so much nicer and so much more fun. I went to work this morning, and I found myself constantly daydreaming about stuff. Going to one of those Saturday markets with one of my girlfriends and then popping into a cafe for lunch; curling up somewhere with a book and a mug of Milo; taking Zachary to the park (though whenever I offer to take him, he doesn't want to go anyway!). I romanticise and idealise things a lot. I think that being a romantic is an excellent thing- I couldn't imagine living any other way. Like, I couldn't imagine not noticing little tiny things, or not being interested in the idea of romance so much. Though being a romantic is a little time-consuming and distracting. For example, sometimes I'll be in a meeting for a uni project, and instead of listening, all I can do is look out the window and think about how nice it would be to walk around in the rain under an umbrella, or whether the boy who can fly really CAN fly, as I imagine he can. Or, someone might be talking to me, and the main thing I notice is how they always wear bright pink lipstick, and how nice it looks on them. And being captivated by little things usually means that you're not very good at normal things, like being tidy, remembering what day of the week it is, and driving. Also, you can make a lot of very unwise decisions. For example, you might decide that butterfly cakes are the most wonderful thing you could buy at a cake stall, and so you buy them, without considering that they have been sitting in the sun for a few hours already. And then you discover that they are all hard and chewy.
Another thing that I've been thinking about is all the particular things that make a person unique. Here is a profile of me. What is yours?
Name: Carla Gee Otherwise known as: Spacegirl Princess Carla, Lala, Sunshine Age: Twenty-one Appeared age: Anywhere between fourteen and eighteen. I like to think that Kylie Minogue and I have something in common. Wears: Mostly pink and purple. I didn't realise that I wore those colours all the time until people started telling me. I wear those colours because I like them so much, but I have discovered that it is a lot easier to look together and co-ordinated (not that I care about that sort of thing) when most of your clothes are two colours. Hey, if it can work for The White Stripes, it can work for me! Smells like: Strawberry Lipsmackers. Fruity lip gloss in general. I have this Strawberry Lipsmacker which has this smell that can expand to fill a whole room, usually causing people to ask, "Who's wearing strawberry lip gloss?" Sounds like: A radio. I'm always singing. As soon as I get home, I start singing. Vocabulary: An interesting blend of seventies slang (from reading vintage Archie comics), Clueless, Jane Austen ("I'll just take a turn about the room") and classic novels. And also various Christian lingo ("Are you going to MYC?", "God is so awesome!"). Vocabulary is devoid of swear words and cussing. This is due to the presence of a six-year-old brother in my house. Will often begin singing phrases and words if they are heard or read (eg. "new technology", "Kate", "rock of ages", "oops, I did it again"). Mode of transport: Bus (can't drive). Usually eating or writing in journal while travelling. Or Roanne's car. Also fairy wings and spaceship.
Can't think of any more. Must get back to doing uni work. Sigh. But this is so much more fun! I could do it all day! |
