    Time Event
    4:00p
my life would be so boring without friends to love
The weekend passed by in its usual colourful blur. It was great! Very busy, but not with uni work or anything like that. I had a bit of a whirlwind design and print-out on Saturday, but other than that, I just wanted to be where I could for my friends!

So it turns out that my pal from uni, David, is a rock star! He performed with his band, Jasper's Brush, at the uni bar on Friday night. It was so much fun! I turned up late (as usual), halfway through the band's first song. David is the bass player, and he was totally into it- doing all of the neck and head movements and stuff. We cheered as loudly as we could (though we didn't have to guts to shout out, "We love you, David!"- something David was grateful for!). The other bands were really good- I totally want to be a rock star now! I always shelve my rock star dreams, but whenever I see a live act or hear really, really good music, I always find myself daydreaming about performing onstage when I'm on the bus to uni! The vibe was pretty cool there- everyone was really nice and supportive. It's funny, though- I find that at music gigs, everyone starts to check each other out. It's all, "I like the drummer", "I think the keyboard player is a cutie!"

On Saturday night, I went to my buddy Erin's 21st. Erin is my best friend at work- she is so colourful and light-hearted and fun! We bonded about two years ago when it was Valentine's Day- neither of us had boyfriends at the time, and we both hated the display of chocolates and cards in front of our register. Ever since that, we've laughed our way through quiet Sunday morning shifts and shared lots of crush stories. If I ever had long hair, I would want to wear it like Erin does- in this big, messy knot at the back of her head, and with lots of sparkly hair clips! Her birthday party was loads of fun- it's always cool to see the work gang outside of work. I had to make a conscious effort not to wear black OR white, though! Erin looked gorgeous- then again, she always does! Seriously. She's a real girly girl who loves putting on make-up and wearing heaps of bangles. Whenever I hear this Britney Spears song called "Anticipation" (it's all about getting ready for a fun night out), I think of Erin! I FINALLY got to meet her boyfriend, Mina, and he is SO NICE! He gets extra points for seeming slightly nervous- very endearing!

Sunday morning came, and I was off to visit my friend Ian's church in Blakehurst. My parents were so nice and gave me a lift down! Sometimes they really surprise me with their generosity, and I wish that I was a better daughter. If they hadn't driven me, I would have had to have left the house at like SIX in the morning! Which is ALWAYS a horrid thing to do after going out the night before. Ian is such an interesting and lovely character. He's kind of like a character from a movie or a book- he works in a video store and teaches kids about Jesus and plays crazy games with them at church. Ever since I met him- almost a year ago, now- he has been growing his strawberry-blonde hair. The reason for this is that he was trying to raise money for two of his friends, who were going to go and do missionary work in Egypt. The idea was, the more money he raised, the more hair he chopped off! It was so great to visit his church- he has always said such glowing things about that place, and now I can see why. I think that it is so great that, as a Christian, you can know that you can go to almost any church and made to feel welcome and a part of the group. I think that you would feel like that even if you weren't a Christian. It was also great to visit because my friend Cameron is working there as a student minister! That was exciting! I love seeing people in places that are very important to them. Anyway, Ian ended up raising $8000 dollars, and so he shaved his head to a number 1! Yay!

Unfortunately, I couldn't stick around for the hair-shaving ceremony, cos Cam was giving me a lift back in his yellow Gemini to my area. If he hadn't, it would have taken me like THREE HOURS by public transport! And I'm kinda glad that I didn't see the hair-shaving- it would have been kinda upsetting, because Ian's hair is really nice!
