Monday again? Somehow it's Monday again.
I know. I know. It's like there's this ongoing theme, right?
First, the weekend update.
Friday we cleaned up the house and kind of bummed around, nothing too exciting really. I went to the doctor, who told me everything was perfect, and then I met up with Ami, who I'm doing my school project with. The meeting was very productive, and I actually am relieved now that I have a sense of direction about the whole thing.
Saturday we wasted a lot of time. We had told our landlord that we'd be leaving by 10/1 as we're hoping to close on our house soon, and she told us that she had 3 prospective tenants lined up who wanted to see our apartment on Saturday afternoon at 1:30, 2, and 3:30. The thing is that NONE of these people ended up showing, so we wasted our whole afternoon.. I guess the good news is that our apartment is now spotless, so that's pretty cool. We ended up walking Mugs, which was good. We've been walking him a few days a week, which is nice both for the exercise and the fresh air. It's amazing what seems to pass as exercise for me these days. That evening we met up with my parents and D's dad at Mikado, a Korean and Japanese restaurant that I worked at through undergrad. It was awesome!!! I sooooo wish there was a Korean restaurant closer to where we live.
Sunday D and I went to the gym. Woo hooo! To mix things up, we did upper body weights and did descending sets until failure, and then we did 30 minutes on the elliptical, and let me tell you....I....am....sore. In a good way. After that we went to dinner at Houlihan's, where I got a steak (iiiiiron), and then we went to go see the Dark Knight so that we could feel in touch with popular culture or whatever. My assessment? It was good, and Heath Ledger really was as good as everyone said. However, it wasn't like the best movie ever or whatever, although my review could have been impacted by the fact that sitting in those damned uncomfortable seats for 2.5 hours was just beyond me.
I was super annoyed by the fact that Houlihans actually advertises the fact that its steaks are covered and basted in butter like it's a good thing. I, of course, asked that my steak not be basted in butter, but when I received it, my waitress informed me that it had been accidentally doused in butter anyways. UGH! Like steak isn't high enough in saturated fat? Seriously?
I've been sleeping a little bit better because my mom got me these awesome sleep masks that are made of a foam-like material and have pockets for your eyes, so they're really comfortable.
Anyhow, today I am at work. I am walking to and from work, and I'm going to walk 30 minutes in the concourse too.
My current pregnancy obsession is stretch marks. So far, I have a few teensy ones on my boobs, but I don't have any anywhere else...yet. While the boob marks bother me, I'm not as upset by them as I would be by stretch marks that would appear in any area of my body that would be shown if I were to wear a bikini...I'm kinda freaked out because while I don't have them yet, I know that by no means does that mean I'm in the clear. Stretch marks come from....stretching, which is....growing, and the baby does most of its growing in the the last trimester, which for me....is now. This means I am in prime stretch mark territory. As far as I know, there's not really anything that can be done about it, and they never really go away, so I guess that's why it's so scary. So basically, I'm rubbing jojoba oil on my skin along with Aveeno skin moisturizing oil and organic cocoa butter, even though I know it's probably useless..I'm basically just waiting and hoping that my skin doesn't errupt in those red, angry lines because I seriously don't think I'll be able to deal with that. I wish I could be one of those strange, rare, admirable women who don't seem to care what they look like and wear all the nasty side effects of pregnancy with pride, but I don't think I'm capable of that.
