| 5:35 pm | You Figure It Out The following is opinion. If you don't like it, fuck off. There's nothing in the world like sex. Short of an awesome alcohol/drug high, that is. Unfortunately the two don't mix, so the two best things I can think of at the moment cannot be combined. It's a rip off. Why's life like that? If you have one good thing you can't put this other good thing with it, because it just doesn't work. For instance, take sugar and cheeseburgers. They just don't mix. You can eat one and then the other, but together it tastes horrible. There's not much to report about what's going on in my life. We're making an album. Finishing it. To anyone not involved, it's boring to hear about. Most of the album tracks are finished. I'm adding in a few new guitar and vocal parts here and there to extra tracks while Shawn and Jon sit on the other side of the glass and stare at me. It's unnerving but I suppose it makes me play better, having an audience like that who I'd really like to impress. Shawn was fucking around with these bongos that he found at a pawn shop yesterday, and we might put them in the background somewhere on an extra (b-side, probably) track. Or we might not. Jon's enjoying his new keyboard... it has built in sampling abilities that'll make his lazy ass even more lazy. Next thing we know he'll be buying himself a motorized wheel chair to cart himself around. Chicks go for the cripples, he says with a grin. | 9:15 pm | Here it is; here's what you've all been waiting for. My first real entry. Fans are odd things. They will want you to sign their arms and their posters and their cds, but they could care less about you. About the personality behind the picture and/or talent, about the person who is really making it happen. Everyone I know has a public persona. For me it's Scott Moffatt From The Moffatts, and then plain old Scott. There are lots of differences between the two, but given that they're both me they overlap. Overlapping is good. Overlapping is great. But when they're the same it gets a bit scary. With a new band I'm having to build a new public persona, one that's a bit different from the last. And I'm not really sure where to start or where to end. I have vague ideas of what I want and that's it. But I suppose at this point in time it's not too important--I have at least six months before I have to worry about the general public and fans. They're like women. Can't live with them and can't order them around. |
