You know what my favorite thing about alternative analysis of demography is? Ridiculing the idea that a small percentage necessarily means an unimportant topic. It's easy to dismiss as an insignificant minority the 6% of Brazil's population which is Pentecostal (according to a poll quoted in the Wall Street Journal), but it not so easy when you realize that the world's population of Brazilian Pentecostals is thus roughly equivalent to the world's population of Belgians.

More alternative analysis of demography (related to US racial statistics, which are, of course, even less straightforward than Brazilian religious statistics) is forthcoming. I'm including a lot of it in my paper and will write about it here when I finish the paper (and when I finish my other paper). My progress on those is going well.
