2:31p - parlez vous francais? no. NOOO!!!
I only recently learned about Marlon Brando's death. I was reading one of Conrado de Quiros' columns and I realized he was heaping praises on Brando, which was strange because C usually writes about all the sh*tty things happening here in the country. Who gives a f*ck about Brando being the best Stanley Kowatever in the history of A Street Car Named Desire?

Then it hit me: maybe the guy's dead, ergo the eulogy. Yeah, I'm not the brightest light bulb in town. So I go over to CNN and search their archives for news of the man's death. True enough, he's dead.

I go back to C and he's talking about all these movies Brando did, including Last Tango in Paris. I've been hearing about this movie since god knows when and I vaguely remember my cousin making us watch it when we were kids; I think I was eight. It was supposed to be our introduction to the "adult" world, if you know what I mean. I don't remember what exactly I saw though. I remember a room and sunlight. That's about it.

So over the weekend, I bought myself a vcd copy of the movie just to see what all the fuss was about. Jiminy, the whole thing was in French!!! Ok, maybe not the whole thing, since I didn't get to finish it; didn't even get halfway through precisely because everybody's speaking in French!!! No subtitles for linguistically challenged folk like me.

So there. Brando's dead and I can't understand a word they say in Last Tango. Even brando's English sounds like it's French.
