A: Whose bracelet is this?
B: I found it down the creek. [Pause.] There's a story there.
This is something I am told a lot. "There's a story there." Well, good! If you think it's so interesting, you can go ahead and write the story itself. I will write what I want to write, not what you wish you could write. Ranty interjection over.
A: What's the story?
B: Well, [mysterious voice] is it just a piece of junk that a little girl won't notice is missing, or is it from someone very special and the little girl will be devastated that it's gone? [Accomplished look on face.]
.... Does anybody else see how that is not a story, but a QUESTION?!?!?!?!
