| #1131: I have appeased myself |

Because I have come to a solution - and my solution is wholly bible based, theologically sound, and does not in any way put forth a false image of God...
As it is, Hillsong are telling us that God asked Jesus to carry the cross. I want to know where they got this from. I do not deny that Jesus carried the cross and the weight of my sin. But nowhere can we find support that God asked Jesus to do it, and is such a belief really fitting with the character of each?
But it's ok.. I have found my solution... And it is in John 3:16.
Why not simply change the word asked to gave?
You gave Your Son To carry this The heavy cross Our weight of sin...
Why Hillsong chose the word gave over asked, I would really like to know. I can't bear to think that they simply didn't think it through. Songwriters throughout the world cannot afford to lose themselves in that luxury.
Also, looking at biblegateway.com, I really saw how some translations take the emphasis away from an everlasting life in heaven and seem to just say, "you will have a good life if you trust in Jesus!" Not cool.
