So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her.
Think about it, though.
After those seven years, Laban cheated Jacob and married him to Leah instead. And so Jacob worked yet another seven years to have Rachel as his wife.
Fourteen years.
And because of his love for Rachel, they only seemed like a few days.
That sort of love amazes me. I don't give a stuff about romantic love, it's nothing to me.
Imagine if I loved God so much that fourteen years of hard service only seemed like a few days!
I haven't been a Christian for that long. I haven't even known about God for seven years. But I know that my time with Him hasn't felt like a few days, it feels like a lifetime.
And this shows me that I'm not in love with Him as much so as I need to be. I'm not so joyful abot serving Him as much so as I need to be.
I want to fall more in love with Him!

Edit: I shouldn't say that romantic love is nothing to me, so much as it is insignificant.

Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. "Go, worship the LORD your God," he said. "But just who will be going?"
Moses answered, "We will go with our young and old, with our songs and ddaughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the LORD."
Pharaoh said, "The LORD be with you - if I let you go along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil. No! Have only the men go; and worshop the LORD, since that's what you have been asking for." Then Moses and Aaron were friven out of Pharaoh's prescence.
And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts will swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail."
I like this passage. Up to here in the bible, men seem to dominate the bible.
But here we see that women and children are just as important to God, and He desires their worship just as much as He desires the worship of men.
After this point in the bible, many women and children are used to do amazing things. There are books about them. And it's great to know that God doesn't see me disdainfully, just because I'm not male.
It reminds me of that verse in 1 Timothy - but instead of "Do not let anyone look down on you are young" it would read "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are female" ;] Something about Timothy we didn't know?
Lol. But just like the verse in 1 Timothy says - I can still be an example to other believers. And that's encouraging.
