What a long weekend. We went out Saturday nite, with the girls having a "Hen's Nite" for Maggie and the guys going out to celebrate Dimi's bday. I left with a bunch of guys from Halls. There was quite a few of us actually. We took 2 maxicabs and I rode with Niran, Dimi, Malcolm, Averi, and Dimi's friend Rajiv. Oh and we got ripped off by the cab driver...frickin' 45 bux from Clayton to Chapel Street. We went straight to Frostbites, got ourselves a table upstairs and I ended up waiting for the DJ to stop playing 80's trash. The music was really bad for quite some time. When the DJ finally played some good music I went down and joined the rest on the dancefloor (thank god). By that time the girls had arrived and had joined up with us at Frostbites. Apparently they had been going round telling ppl that Maggie was getting married. Anyway, danced till the place closed down at 3am, then we started going back in small groups. I was slightly disappointed coz I was hoping to go to Evolution. Okay so It's not the best club in the world but at least they play continuous hip hop n r'n'b. Dimi said we'll probably go next Saturday. Got as much sleep as I could before being woken up at 11am by Keong. I promised him I would take pictures at his last home match here at Clayton. I was amazed at my steadyness when I lumbered out of bed and made it on time to the pitch to catch some photos. I managed to take abt 40 shots, plus shots of Keong in dire pain. Keong had unfortunately pulled his hamstring while playing in the 2nd half. Fate had made it so that I would be there to help walk him around. Besides Keong getting hurt I almost had my balls frozen. It was soooo cold. I heard that today had a low of 4 degrees. All I know was that my fingers were going numb when I was taking those pics. I'm on call tonite so I had to man shop. Managed to run through my latest idea for my portfolio. I call it "Useful and Not so Useful Foreign Phrases!". Its a little thingy I cooked up after seeing such an interest in learning weird and funny phrases in various foreign languages around Halls. So far feedback has been good. I've sent it to Tash, Judi and Jodie to be approved so if everything goes well I'll be able to go through with that. I'm also gonna use an idea Diana gave me, which is to put up simple-to-do cooking recipes from different cultures/countries. I need more ideas like this that promote cultural interchange within Halls. Was supposed to watch the last episode of Young and Dangerous today, but I feel too damn tired and told Keong that I'd prefer watching it tomorrow. Definitely gonna kong soon. |

I woke up sooo late today...our lil' visit to Chaddie to watch American Pie 3 was okay I guess...it was funny and everything but there were a few parts were only a complete moron would be caught in. Well...it was an American Pie movie...I must say I feel like getting arrested now ;) Me, Keong, Preema, and Adrian went back to my place to watch the 5th installment of Young and Dangerous...I didn't think much of the 5th one...we're going out tonite so I guess we'll be watching the last one tomorrow or sumthin... We're going out tonite to celebrate Dimi's bday. Dimi is this cool dude from Sri Lanka who came to Halls early this year. We're going to Frostbites and Evolution on Chapel I think. It's been awhile so it should be fun. Honestly, I'm not really in the mood, but I know I'll have a ball once I'm there. I told myself that I'd go out today if I woke up early enough. Maybe visit the girls at this trade fair thingy that's going on in the city or maybe try and tarik Puipui to go out. So much for that. The Richo Mock Wedding is coming up soon....yea....I know its sounds abit dodgy but its sorta like a tradition. Maggie and Mat are getting "married". The guys are organising a trip to Goldfinger on Tuesday I think...I'd love to go but I'm not in the mood for alot of money spending. Besides, there's now way I'm getting a lapdance in front of ppl from Halls. Hmm...I think I'll watch an episode of Naruto, take a shower, and try to get some shit done on my to-do list. |

Missed most of my classes in the morning today...god I so needed the sleep. Managed to make it for my 3pm tute with Keong for Fashion, Image and Advertising. God that tute is so full of crap. I'm just saying this from a Business Systems student perspective. They were talking about punk and its significance in terms of fashion and teen culture. Spent an hour analysing images of Johnny Rotten and punk on the catwalk. It amazes me at how well they word all the bullshit they talk about. I am really impressed. I mean...I didn't understand what the heck they were on abt, well I sorta did but I could never word it the way some of these arts students can. Anyway, goin' to Chaddie with my sis and Keong to watch American Pie 3. Hmmm. We're meeting up with Preema, Adrian, and Gladys there. I also just remembered...well...actually Hannah reminded me, that Linds's 21st is tonite. I feel like a dick coz I totally forgot. I phoned her up and told her I'll be coming late and offered to take pics for her at the party. It's almost 5.30! Gotta get ready! |

I went out today! Finally...after all that time being sick, I finally made a visit to the city. Met up with both Diana and Tom today...Diana's still as pretty as ever...plus she hasn't changed one bit...both of them did seem slightly shorter tho...I guess I must've grown a few inches =) We had lunch at this really nice place in this alley between Collins and Lt. Collins...I think it was called C&B. Really good food. A tad pricey tho. We basically chatted and chatted...it was so nice talking to her again, didn't really get a chance to get to know Tom last year, but he's a nice guy and easy to get along with. After that we had coffee at Starbucks (I called Puipui earlier to check whether she was working today, she wasn't) and we chatted sumore. She managed to give me a great idea for my portfolio which I will be putting into action soon. Eventually, it was time for me to go. I said my goodbyes and I must've hugged her like 6 times. She's coming back to visit again tho so it's not that bad...seeing her has reminded me to try and get a hold of the rest of my ol' American friends, Van, Jimmy, and Janette. I visited 2 comic shops and spent about 60 bux on comics. I bought the first volume of New X-Men and the 6th volume of Ultimate X-Men. Couldn't find the Warlands book I'm looking for and the latest issue of SNIKT still hasn't come out yet. I did buy the 2nd issue of Transformers: More than Meets the Eye. It's like a profile book for transformers. Strictly for fans. I also bought 2 cds today. Ones a Jack Johnson cd (I've been dying to get his album ever since I heard him in Laura's room) and Nirvana's most recent release. God it was cold today. Came back and hung out with some of the ressies in the common room. They all went out to the Nott tonite but me, Preema and Keong stayed back to watch the 4th episode of Young and Dangerous. Not as good as the rest, but still pretty decent. Apparently it gets better. I've also started a new anime. After much hassling by Adrian, I finally decided to watch Naruto. I must admit it seems pretty interesting. Can't wait to watch the 2nd episode. Preema made me dinner today. She made me smoked tuna triangle sandwiches. I was just supposed to pick up a couple of packets of indo mee but she ended up making me dinner. Thanx girl! It's so nice when you have ppl taking care of you. Anyway, I better catch some Zs. Ciao! |

Sheesh. I had a whole update last nite but the blurty server was acting up and wouldn't let me through. This morning my laptop was acting up and I had to restart it so I lost that whole update...oh well. I'm going to the city today to see Diana today. Diana's this babe from the States. She's like one of the the nicest, sweetest and prettiest girls I know. I met her in my first year here. She's visiting her bf Tom and now I get to steal her abit for myself. We've got alot of catching up to do. Me, Preema and Keong watched TWO episodes of Young and Dangerous last nite. It's pretty damn good. Very nice little plot twists here and there, complete with heroes you love to love and assholes you love to hate (like that bastard Crow). I feel like joining the Hung Hing Boys now. Uh...maybe not. Going to the city probably means a visit to the comic shop. Oh no. I hope I don't spend much. Hehe. |

I'm in my Computer Facilities and Network Management tute rite now. Thank god I came in 20 minutes late. We don't have any work today! And my tutor has just only started to talk about our assignment that's due in week 7. My tutor's name is Yann. He's a cool dude. Helped me out alot last semester when I was doing one of my other subjects. I got him as my tutor back then as well. Our assignment requires us to propose a LAN network structure (I think) to a client based on a given scenario. Yey. What fun. I'm supposed to meet up with Keong at 4pm later to pick my phone up coz the idiot accidentally took my phone last nite. I'm also abit desappointed (and hungry) at the fact that I missed the cheap boycott food today. It's on tomorrow as well but I don't have any classes tomorrow. I'm on-call tonite at Richo and I think Tash (my senior RA) is gonna pay me a visit. She's doing check ups on all the RAs. Just to see how we're doing and what not. I can whinge at her at how I'm running out of ideas on what to do. 20 minutes left till the end of the tute...hurry up! What a good student I am...always coming in late and always wanting to leave early. |

I'm back! sheesh...today the Monash Uni network got attacked by this WORM. Apparently it made all coms connected to the network restart every 2 minutes. My com got hit and it got REALLY irritating. Thankfully there was a patch that would stop your com from restarting and I got it off from Kristin. Now I'm all good. I just watched the first episode of the infamous Young and Dangerous series. Not Bad. Watched it with Keong and Preema. We're watching the second one tonite. God it's such a gloomy day. Makes you wanna stay in and sleep. Too bad I got a class at 3pm. Luke called me up yesterday and I told him that I won't be able to sing this Thursday. He's postponed the booking to next week. Reckons I should be fine by then. He seems really enthusiastic to record my album. I better deliver in the end =) |

Okay, we didn't watch Training Day...we watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights instead. I know...pretty drastic change but we were in the mood for a laugh. To sum it up, it was sorta crap. I was disappointed coz I had heard that it was dead funny. It wasn't that funny really...Oh well. Nipsy came over to ask me to sign Tash and Linds's bday cards. Can't believe Linds is only turning 21. She's so matured, organised and well...up there. Yea...she's up there. And she's MY AGE. And I'm like such a lazy kid. Linds is the RA for Stairway 6. Very nice girl from Red Hill. She's such a sweetie. Tash is our Senior RA. She basically manages all of us. She plays the guitar and sings just like me. We performed together a couple of times last year. She does the whole Sheryl Crow/Jewel/Lisa Loeb thing. I've got a full day later today. Class at 9am till 2pm. That's one 1 hour lecture, one 2 hour lecture, and one 2 hour tute. I kinda forgot to do my business com tute work so I'll have to cook something up tomorrow. Half a page on the difference between a good communicator and a good talker. I also have to figure out what function to do. My International Portfolio is dying for something. Plus I need to get together with Gracie (My stairway rep) and figure something out for the International Nite sketch we're supposed to do. We've got a good theme and my ressies seem enthusiastic so it should be okay. I think I'll do up a Stairway Update tomorrow. It's about time I sent something out to my ressies. I'm thinking of having my stairway outing to Bennet's Lane again. Bennet's Lane is a jazz club in the city. A pretty good one as well. I was kinda hoping to catch a big band but their schedule doesn't seem to have anything promising. I'll need to call 'em up and ask 'em. Didn't manage to call Jen today. Hopefully I'll manage that tomorrow. Plus I seem to have lost my calling card so I'll have to get a new one at Uni. Speaking of uni, there gonna be a boycott at uni this Wednesday and Thursday. The Monash Student Association (MSA) is urging students to not buy food from food outlets managed by MONYX and to buy food from the food stalls set up around uni instead. MONYX is this entity that is apparently taking our money and not putting it to good enough use. It manages most of the food outlets around uni and truthfully, our food is crap. Apparently surveys show that our food is the second most expensive uni food in VIC or something. Plus our quality's one of the worst. This boycott should be interesting to see. Go uni! Still haven't fully healed my voice yet. And Luke still has that recording session booked this Thursday. If push comes to shove I'll just have to record the guitar tracks first. Still haven't decided on the songlist. Gonna have the divy 'em and see how many good solid ones I have. Don't wanna record 'em all in one album. I definitely wanna do "For Her". Probably do "Aida" as well. We'll see. Still working on this new one I'm calling "Easy". Still can't decide on the rhythm. I've also found a new and better way of singing this song that I've been having for ages. Never really got around to finishing it. Looks like the writer's block I've been having is really over =) |

Okay, so I'm not watching a movie with Preema just yet, we're postponing it to later coz it's already 6pm and I wanna go eat at the Dining Hall plus she has to cook and she has a stairway meeting at 8pm. I think we're watching Training Day. I just downloaded The Last Starfighter. I started watching it and it seemed abit dodgy so I checked it out on the net and turns out it's like a kiddy 80's sci fi flick. So I deleted it. I'm now downloading The Return of Optimus Prime and Attack of the Clones, the first one coz I have a major obsession with Optimus Prime and the second one coz I like lightsabers. Need to remember to drop by the Resident Advisor (RA) Office to see whether there's any surprises in my pidgeon hole. |

Hah. I had gotten all my gear on and had just my shoes to wear when I decided to skip my tute. This decision was made based on the fact that I'm behind in this class and would not know what the heck my tutor would be talking abt. I don't feel so bad coz it's getting dark outside and it's freezing today. This does mean that I have to do work for that today...must not be left behind! Also planning abit of a movie marathon with Preema today. This girl hasn't watched so many movies. Preema's like my best friend here in Halls. We've know each other for almost 4 years now and I love her to bits. Another comrade worth mentioning is my brotha Keong. I've known Keong for abt 4 years as well...we were in the same pre-u course together and now he's here in Halls. He's an idiot and always will be and one day when we're old we're gonna play chess on my patio while our grandkids run around. Poor Keong. He's getting sick coz I spent to many sick days in his room playing Freelancer (kickass game!). That's what he says at least. I think it's that girl that coughed at the back of his head a million times in class. |

Hmm...my friendster thingy has been pretty inactive lately...god that thing can be so addictive. It's like some sorta pokemon or something. Collect all your friends! Collect 'em all! I did meet alot of old friends thru it though. You should check it out Still have 15 minutes before I have to leave for class. I think I'll download something to watch when I get back. |

Man...that was a weird dream. I just woke up from a dream where I had a totally different family, and that the only family member that was the same was my Dad. What's more, Jen was my sister. Like my real sister. I think. Jen is my pet-sister who's living in Sydney. What's a pet-sister? Well it's just something that originates from Malaysian teen culture...we just call each other "bro" and "sis" and make an extra effort in keeping in touch. Or try to at least. Which reminds me, I haven't called her in ages. Will have to do that today. I missed my E-commerce lecture. Oh well. My lecturer's a bit of a dickhead anyway. He's soooo uptight abt noise and disturbances and he goes into fits everytime somebody whispers. Better get ready for my tute... |

Wow. Just finished watching Alien 4. I've actually watched it before but that was so long ago in Malaysia (they would've screened a highly censored version there) that I just decided to watch it again. I guess I'm on some kinda movie watching spree. I must say it was pretty damn good. I wasn't too happy with the death of my fav character, the cool looking guy with the dreadlocks. And I love Ripley. She's awesome. Sigourney Weaver (I hope I got the spelling right) really gives an excellent performance. Its abt 3.40am now and it's time fer bed. Thank god class on Mondays start at 2pm. G'nite! |

I just got back from an inter-halls footie game. Footie or Aussie Rules Football is the main game here in Australia. As I'm not really the sporting type, I settled for being part of the cheering squad. I think the team was quite happy at the numbers that turned up to support 'em. Well, we kicked Roberts' ass. Can't remember the score but Roberts didn't score much. I just called my Mom. I feel really good after calling my Mom. Call me a Mama's boy or whatvr. I don't care. I love my Mom to bits. She's an angel if I ever knew one. Apparently one of my cousins (Abg. Yatim) is getting married and she was just about to push off to the ceremony. Managed to talk to her about Uni, my plans concerning doing a post-grad course at RMit, and getting a dentist. They're supposed to be having a bbq in the courtyard to celebrate. Probably gonna go check it out. Ciao! |

I had the best dinner today! Went to Tim's place to eat some steamboat food! And it was so good! Especially those tau fus! I've been fed well today. Played abit of Kingdom Hearts while I was there, then kicked CS's ass at Tekken (haha). Eventually chilled in Adrian's room, which already had Tim, Val, Kristin, Moey, Preema and Adrian himself in it (never saw his room that full before). They were watching these clips of Justin Timberlake that Tim has. Yea, I know it sounds a little gay but Tim...well...he ain't gay and he just likes Justin and N'Sync. And the girls just love 'em of course. I gotta say that Justin dude can really dance. It ain't easy singing and dancing at the same time. And his songs have a very rnb/hip hop vibe to it so that's always good. To bad they didn't have any Rage clips. Did I mention? My favorite band is Rage Against the Machine |

Whoa. I was supposed to wake up at 11am and go out with Preema, CS, and Adrian to Springvale today. Its 4.55pm now. I just woke up. Pretty late huh? Well...I slept at 7am. Don't ask. Anyway, we're having this big makan (dinner) at Tim's place so I better call Preema and ask her what's the plan. I just might wanna go there early...they've got a ps2 stored at that house and I keep my memory card and games that I brought from Malaysia there. Didn't want to get my own console coz I wouldn't get my degree then...oh well... I feel really scruffy now. A shower would be good. Catch ya later. |

| Aaaaah. I just got out of the shower. Right before that I decided to watch Terminator 3. Thanx to the wonders of the Halls network I was able to watch it on my laptop. Now, alot of ppl said it was crap and whatvr, but I kinda liked the non-stop mindblowing action. Hmmm...well...okay...so maybe there was abit of excessive destruction, and then you have little parts here and there that didn't make sense, like how can something as awesome as the TX, with its sensors (infrared, biometric, whatvr) couldn't even tell that Claire Daines was hiding behind the cabinet when she walked into vetinary clinic? And how did the Connor dude, Claire, and big ol' Arnie just waltz into Claire's dad's top secret, high-level clearence command center? But other than that the action was pretty good. I like how Arnie kicked it. That was a cool way to go. | ||||||

Sheesh...I think I almost coughed my lungs out a moment ago. This cough is getting life threatening. It actually woke me up from a nice lil' nap I was having. Oh well, I needed to take a shower anyway. After that I need to figure out what to eat with the tuna mix I made up today. Triangle sandwhich-ing them would make them too irritable for my throat. I guess I'll just have to eat it with plain bread then. Yuck. I hate eating cold bread. I put mine in the fridge to make it last longer. I think I'll check up what the rest of the Hall up to. The place where I live is called the Halls of Residence. My Hall is called Richardson Hall, or Richo Hall. |

Hmmm...my first entry in the world of blogging. This might prove interesting. To myself of course. Do other people really read other people's blog's and shit? I really need to clean my room up. I've been sick for 2 weeks so I've been too lazy to filter all the trash out. No, wait a minute, my room's ALWAYS messy, whether I'm sick or not. Having mentioned that I've been sick, I'm actually loadz better now compared to...well...yesterday and all the days before that. There were times I felt like (as the Aussies put it) shit run over twice. Thank god the fever has gone away. that was terrible. Now all I have to deal with is this VERY annoying cough. I can't even sing with this voice. Here's hoping I recover in time for next week's recording session with Luke. Luke's this friend of mine who's doing Audio Engineering. He's recorded me a couple of times for a project of his and now he's recording my first effort at a proper 6 track album (or EP if you will). If you don't know me (you probably don't) I'm a very musically oriented person. I can't read notes and I'm not pitch perfect but I've been playing the guitar for almost 7 years and I've been performing for almost 7 years as well (4 years in a band and 3 years solo). I've been singing for 6 years and I've been writing for 3. So as you can see I've been involved in this sorta thing for quite some time now. The chance to record a proper EP for free (Luke has access to his school's studios and equipment for free) is just simply spine-tinggling!!! I even formed a band the moment I agreed with Luke to get my shit recorded. It's been in the back of my mind for along time now but I was just waiting for the right time. I got together with this other friend of mine who always plays percussion for me, Kenn Nee. Kenn Nee is so far the only musician I've met that's been able to just flow with the stuff I write. We even have a song that we put together hours before a student union ball we were supposed to perform for. I named it "Jamming with Kenn Nee". Cheesy I know...but I like it =) Anyway, me and Kenn Nee are the pioneering members of our new band, Rainy Day Acoustics. We're gonna have to find somebody to play the bass. How rude of me, I haven't properly introduced myself. My name is Mohammed Reza Sallehuddin. The Mohammed part is a tribute to my prophet (I'm Muslim) and often gets confused with my given name, Reza. So call me Reza. I was born and bred in Malaysia and I'm of Malay, Bugis, and Arabian descent. My Dad reckons we got a bit of Dutch blood on his side too. Wouldn't be surprised. The Dutch loved invading us back in the day. For the ill-informed, being born in Malaysia doesn't make you Malay. Being born in Malaysia makes you Malaysian. The Malays are just 1 of the 3 main ethnic races in Malaysia (Malay, Chinese, Indian) in addition tons of other sub-ethnic groups. Sounds complicated? No? Good. Yes? Try reading it again. I never thought all of this was confusing to anybody else till I came to Australia and I had to explain the difference. Educational institutions include SRK Sri Petaling (1 day), SRK Damansara Utama (2 years), SRK Iskandar (4 years), Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid (1 year), Bukit Bintang Boys School (4 years), Sunway College MUFY Program (1 year), Monash Uni Malaysia (1 year), and finally Monash Uni Clayton (2 years). I have a very complex personality. At times I can be cool, calm and focused under pressure, and other times I tend to freak like nobody's business. I can be the happiest, friendliest, and nicest dude one day and on other days I can be as quiet and as silent as a passing stranger. I have a temper but years of training has enabled me to control it. I can be moody but only to those close to me. I absolutely love my friends and I truly believe my friends help keep my life together. I live in a community oriented accomodation area and I am currently 1 of 9 Resident Advisors charged with taking care of an allocated amount of residents living here. We're expected and trained to be high-profile support type individuals that help keep the place together. I'm a pretty developed social person, having been thrown in the deep end ever since I was young, and at the same time I can be quite the loner. That's pretty much me I guess. Can't think of anything else at the moment. Next Entry! |
