Prestigious James Beard House to feature Celebrity Cruises chefs - Travel Guides, Travel Tips
Anyone who believes that cruise ship dining is driven by quantity over quality has not experienced Celebrity Cruises' award-winning cuisine. The esteemed James Beard House in cruise line chefs.

The April 5 dinner will begin with an eclectic array of six hors d'oeuvres and canapés, many of which are inspired by the chefs' history of cooking together as well as other career experiences that have shaped their culinary style. An eggplant imam bayildi with chickpea fritters pays homage to the Middle Eastern-inspired meze in the popular "M's Favorites" in Qsine, the Celebrity Cruises specialty restaurant that aims to awaken palates through a playful and whimsical approach to familiar and memorable dishes from around the world. Paired with this and the other hors d'oeuvres will be several California wine "stars" - a celebratory 2009 Etoile brut sparkling wine (produced by Moet & Chandon) and a 2007 Cakebread Cellars sauvignon blanc selected for its high acidity, which will drive guests' palates to crave more flavors - flavors that will be delivered during the dinner. The meal will begin with a light, clean hamachi tartare and carpaccio with blood orange-ginger espuma, pepquino salad and sakura cress, accompanied by Ichishmia sake. From there, each course will become progressively richer, culminating in a fifth course that will showcase the chefs' passion and technical expertise alike. Their "lamb quattro" will include four cuts and preparations of lamb on a single plate: za'atar-crusted lamb loin; lamb ravioli; merguez sausage boolani; and lamb rib with morels, pea blini and lamb jus. The highly limited-production, Napa Valley-sourced Amuse Bouche, a twist on the classic Pomerol-style Bordeaux blend, will offer a classic food and wine pairing to round out the rich explosion of flavors guests will experience in this course.

"The James Beard House dinner will not only reflect our individual styles and career influences, but also the types of dishes we've created together over the past eleven years," Suley said. "We bring this same synergy to the Celebrity culinary experience, and hope that our passion for cooking amazing food adds an element of the unexpected, of adventure, even of astonishment, to our guests' vacations."

Orion Expedition Cruises Releases 2013 Calendar Of Sailings - , Travel Tips
    Antarctic Islands.

Eight years of operational experience is reflected across a range of forty 5 to 20 night itineraries capturing the very best regional destinations. Some perennially popular voyages, such as Australia’s own Kimberley coast, warrant fifteen 10 night voyages in 2013 (and feature an inclusive and exclusive Bungle Bungle sightseeing flight), while other one-off expeditions explore the Solomon islands and the rarely visited Forgotten and Spice Islands of the Indonesian archipelago.

Experiences range from climbing active volcanoes in Melanesia to viewing prehistory rock art in the Kimberley of North West Australia or an introduction to the ancient cultures of Papua New Guinea. Walk in the footsteps of polar explorers at the historic Antarctic base camps of Mawson, Scott and Shackleton and encounter extensive wildlife in its natural habitat - crocodiles in the Kimberley, dragons in Komodo, rare birdlife in the sub Antarctic islands and endangered species of primate in Borneo. For others the food, wine and exclusive golf courses of New Zealand or snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef will appeal.

Instead of a floating mega mall, Orion is a compact purpose-built luxury expedition vessel designed to carry just 100 guests in great comfort, with a crew of 75 providing attentive yet unobtrusive service. Sometimes challenging days in remote and unusual locations (in the company of the specialist Expedition Team) are balanced onboard with comforts akin to a small luxury hotel.

Absent from the Calendar of Sailings for 2013 are itineraries for Orion II, which will be returned to its owners mid November 2012 and will no longer be used by the company for expeditions beyond that date.

Sarina Bratton, Founder & Managing Director commented “we have not been satisfied with some performance aspects such as the fuel efficiency of the vessel and therefore have decided to return the ship at the completion of the first charter term”.

Relieve your feet from the 'marathon' fatigue Travel Guides, Travel Tips
Sukho Thai’ foot massage for the Mumbai marathon participants.

With the marathon fever all over the city, most runners are busy gearing up for the run with adequate training like regular running practice, right diet, adequate hydration, perfect footwear etc. but the most important part is the fatigue. Though training and warm‐ up help, the stress on the feet due to long distance running causes muscles stiffness, soreness and fatigue that require proper attention. Apart from the feet, the back and neck also experience ‘shock’ and tend to get stiff and sore.

Sukho Thai’s Hot Herbal Bun Massage is a perfect therapy for runners as it sooths and refreshes these fatigued muscles of the feet & back and de‐stresses the body. The therapy lasts for a total of 75 mins where the first 45 mins are dedicated to complete foot massage with hot herb buns and oils followed by 15 mins of the back and the shoulder massage.

The steam heated herbal bun – a round cotton bundle called prakop in Thai, combines a blend of 23 aromatic and therapeutic herbs like lemongrass, turmeric, prai ginger, kaffir lime etc. and has an invigorating effect to stimulate the senses and soothe the aching muscles.

Speaking on the subject, Mr. SHailesh Patil said, ‘We at Sukho Thai offer the traditional and scientific therapies that have been practised in Thailand for centuries with proven benefits. With the therapy for runners, we want to highlight the benefits of these foot massage therapies and want people to understand and use them as a part of a wellness routine and not a luxury concept.’

After 15 years of public planning and collaboration, a project that - from the Navy Pier to the B Street Pier and a portion of West Broadway - will break ground Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. The event is open to the public.

, City of San Diego and Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) will celebrate its start with a groundbreaking ceremony on the western edge of Lane Field, located at the corner of West Broadway and North Harbor Drive.

Hundreds of people are anticipated to attend the event, which will include remarks from City of San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, City Council President Pro Tem Kevin Faulconer, Board of Port Commissioners Chairman Scott Peters, CCDC Board Director Laurie Black, and former Port Commissioners Stephen P. Cushman and Mike McDade.

"The revitalized North Embarcadero will connect downtown San Diego to the waterfront, creating acres of new park space that San Diegans, visitors and future generations can use to enjoy our beautiful bay," said Kevin Faulconer, Chairman of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Joint Powers Authority.

The North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I is part of a comprehensive project to beautify the waterfront and create new public open space that welcomes residents and tourists. The project also includes significant improvements to roadways, utilities and storm water systems.

When completed, a 105-foot wide esplanade will adorn the waterfront. The esplanade will have formal gardens, plazas, shade pavilions and a waterfront promenade that will allow downtown residents, workers and visitors to stroll, jog, cycle, enjoy public events or just relax.

West Broadway will serve as a gateway connecting downtown San Diego to the bay. It will be defined by special paving and medians, rows of elegant Medjool Date palms and decorative lighting. In the future, adjacent developments will further enhance the area with additional public spaces along the gateway to the bay.

The North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase I Project is a green project. Drip irrigation will be used to water drought-tolerant plants, and the project has the ability to use reclaimed water in the future. Storm water drainage improvements will provide a water treatment system along the bay front esplanade on North Harbor Drive, preventing pollution from entering the bay.
