Ain't no sunshine -- Notting Hill OST |
] |
January 14th is celebrated as Makar Sakranti in northern and central part of India. Similar festivals with different names are celebrated in rest of the country. After this day the warmth of sun takes over which is benificial for the ripening of crops. In Indore, on makar sakranti we give Gud-Tilli (a sweet made up of jaggery and seasame) to the elders and touch their feet. Also I used to play Gilli-Danda with cousins and friends and fly the kites ... it was so much fun. Its been ages that I have played Gilli-Danda or flown kites ... I was kinda champ with both of them :) I still miss the names of different kinds of kites :p
