Last Friday, I crawled out from under my rock and hooked up with my high school barkada. We hadn't seen each other in ages. College came and went and I can't even remember the last time we were all together. But the great thing about our friendship is we can just pick up where we left off. It's like no time has passed at all.

We had dinner at Podium. T'was supposed to be a girl thing, but Paula brought Malek and Tracy brought Cyrus. We didn't mind. Anything you can say in front of Pau and Tray, you can say in front of Malek and Cy. And Mark ([info]mousehole). And Lovine ([info]iamlovine). The boyfriends have been indoctrinated in the ways of TAKEN MAD. Well, except for Bocc, but that's a whole different story.

I don't know how so much shit can happen to a single person, but it happens to Denise. So now she has three boys, and they're all brothers, and her story sounds a lot like Legends of the Fall.

Up until that night, I hadn't realized how much I really missed them. It was so great to catch up and laugh about old times. These people are crazy, I tell you. Absolutely crazy. Sick in the head. I love them dearly.

We ended at around 1:00 am. As I was getting ready to leave, I got a text from Avril asking me if I wanted to meet up with her and Bea at Greenbelt. Meeting up with Avril and Bea at Greenbelt means trendy clubs with blaring techno and hip hop music. Feeling fashionistas preening at each other. Gyrating, sweaty bodies invading your personal space. Overpriced drinks.

You can't even talk in those places. You can't hear anything except the ung-tsss ung-tsss ung-tsss of the mind-numbing music. You just smile or nod or blow smoke in each other's direction. You pretend to be thrilled at running into people you don't really like. ("Oh my god! It's so nice to see you!" *Beso*) You sip your drink and swagger and check out the people who are checking you out. Not my idea of a good time.

But I went anyway, to Temple and Absinthe, because Avril's my best friend and I missed her and I felt guilty about ditching her two weeks in a row.

While were standing along the GB 2 strip trying to figure out where to go, a tall foreign guy came up to me and said, "Excuse me. Are you a movie star?" I held back a snort. He insisted he saw me on TV that afternoon. He made small talk (Apparently he's some big shot with Hilton hotels) and tried to get my number but I told him I wasn't interested. That is the third time a foreigner has tried to pick me up at Greenbelt. What the hell is up with that?

We ended up in Absinthe because they were playing Paul Anka at Temple. Not that it made a difference to me. (I mean, they were playing J'Lo and Ja Rule at Absinthe, which wasn't much better.) It took us an hour to get our drinks. We went outside and didn't talk much. Avril's friends (Luis, her mom's ex-boyfriend's son and Javi, his friend who was high on valium) were annoying. It wasn't as bad as I make it sound.
