Groundhoggins [02 Feb 2004|06:30pm]
[ music | The Bangles - Manic Monday ]

Ugh. These are those annoying days where there's too much good stuff happening but so much bad so you don't know if you should sulk or act happy. Anyway, I had a field trip today to a Barnes and Noble bookstore. Two poets were there and they read some stuff and talked about it. Pretty interesting. :moptop:
Then in math we got new seats. YAY! Next to Carlos, diagonal from Mike, behind Rachel, and across the aisle from A-Lou. Funny being with Carlos and shifty-eyed Mike. And Rachel is so neat. :jennhlin:
Then, after 7th Period, I went to Elizabeth's locker quick. She mentioned that :skull:Ms. Pohl:skull: mentioned something about me not being in class because of the field trip. There was apparently a misunderstandign between her and my mum when they talked about all the field trips. Ugh, and she was mad at me the other day for playing out of tune....bleh. She's out to get me...or at least I'm throwing my self out for her to get me.
My fun and non-fun leveled out, pretty much. I just wish it was next week. I want to be next week, on Monday. :indifferent:

I'm Not Sure Why..... [27 Jan 2004|06:34am]
[ music | Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps ]

but for some reason, I'm awake....messing with my iPod.
No school today, the Arlington County Channel told me....I'm guessing it's too icy out and it might "endanger the buses." We're such wimps. Eskimos would laugh at us.
A week or two ago, I heard that they're making a Lion King 1 1/2, to go inbetween the first and second. I find it disgusting. Just because the Lion King made TONS of dollars, it does not mean that making a "one and a half movie" will sell just as well. I'm afraid to see it when it comes out.....I don't think I'll be able to manage it.
Well, as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing stopping me from going back to bed. Sayonara, suckers.

Happy Birthday Mum! [25 Jan 2004|06:29pm]
[ music | BeeGees - Jive Talkin' ]

Mum's birthday was fun! I got her a 2 CD set of the BeeGees greatest hits and an Olive Garden gift certificate! She loves them both. I also made her a personalized Darth Vader themed card. It says "I command you to have a hapy birthday or I'll terminate you!" Then there's Darth's signature with some X's and O's. I have some wickedly sweet Darth Vader pics too. I love it. I always make cards for her. Much more fun that a trip to the local Hallmark.
Just got back from the Silver Diner with Mum and Nancy. It was really fun. We talked about interesting stuff. So enjoyable!
Also rented a rabbit-load of movies. "Frankenstein" "King Kong"
"The Mummy's Tomb" "Jesus Christ: Superstar" and "Plan 9 from Outer Space."
I totally can't wait to watch them all! A few I've already seen, since I love old movies, but I can't wait anyway! Sorta like how I can't wait to see the Walkmen in February.

Without Its Final Line [24 Jan 2004|08:04pm]
[ music | Longwave - Everywhere You Turn ]

I cannot WAIT for The Walkmen concert. They are one the most exceptional bands, so their concert is probably going to be just as great as their music style. :glasses:
I woke up around noon today. I stayed up late watching Pleasantville, so I guess that's to blame. I don't remember the end though....fell asleep....typical.
Finally finished "The Joy Luck Club!" It was a great book, I gotta say. Parts were funny, parts were sad, I learned so much. No need to wonder why it's a classic. I also got "Rocket Boys" by Homer H. Hickman. I've been wanting to read that for a loooong time. I finally checked it out. I also got "The Electric Acid Kool-Aid Test." Another "I-want-to-read-this-but-am-going-to-procastinate-the-going-to-the-library-and-checking-it-out-process" issue. I have too many of those. That's why I'm occacionally stuck reading sper-the-moment books that aren't ones I really want to read. :indifferent:
Well, my mum's b-day is tomorrow and I didn't get a gift yet! (*procrastination episode 2*) My pops should be hear any minute to carry me off to the bookstore! Yeehaw!

PS: I practiced sibling friendship skills today and played Monopoly Junior with Armand for a LONG time. (it was my birthday present for him, he loves it!) :) We also watched SpongeBob Squarepants. I have mixed emotions about that show....but it's funny sometimes.

Philadelphia Trip [23 Jan 2004|07:06pm]
[ music | The Hives - Supply and Demand ]

Twas funnies, but twas cold. And I needed Chap-Stick through the whole thing.
I woke up around 5 (we needed to get to school and get on the buses at 6:15) and watched "Love Boat" on TVLand, which really wasn't too bad of a show. Then I finished putting on my lime green nail polish, ate brekkie, then jumped the shower for a little washie.
FINALLY left the building around 6:04 and got to school right on time to get on the buses. Woohoo, indeed.
Busride there was fun. Sleepy, but fun. :shy:
When we finally got the Franklin Institute (science museum) we broke up into groups and set out to fill out a scavenger hunt worksheet. (How I hate those.) :mischief:
Anyway, Steve gave me 10 cents when I gave him a few of the answers and Michael accused me of being a cheater since I got an answer from him. (Which he happened to of offered me nicely....)
I also made a face on my water-bottle cap and named it Rocky and showed it to Lucas and Joseph throughout the day. Oh, do I love it. And, boy, do I have an obsession with naming things....
The museum WAS fun though, even though I'd been there before. Best part is walking through the big heart and climbing the steps inside and stuff. Lucas was being a goon and was hiding the the left ventricle trying to scare people the whole time. What a pineapple....

Woolfenstruven Van Struvenstein [20 Jan 2004|05:15pm]
[ music | Cindy Lauper - Santa Baby ]

Today was ODD. Somewhat unexpected field trip to the Career Center starting 2nd Period. Our "tour lady" took us about the corridors of the Career Center, letting various teachers give us detailed presentations about their field of work and the exhilarating activities we'd be about to enjoy if we signed up to their classes. (e.g. tv journalism, animal sciences, cosmetology, cooking.) :roysMom:
To add to my fun experiance, the whole Career Center looked '70s inspired. (or was actually built during the good 'ol '70s, who knows?) The bathroom doors, for example...the picture of the guy on the mens' restroom was wearing FLARES. Seriously, big orange, big-bell flares. I should have taken a picture or ripped the door off it's hinges to show you people. It was precious stuff. Also, there was tons of wall paneling....and the steps looks a LOT like the steps found the Brady Bunch household. It was a sight to behold. :boys:
Then when we got back to school, where the magic is made, we went to a two-period assembly where they talked to us about schedules and stuff...classes we could pick. :sombrero: I could only pay attention for so long....people asked some crazy-specific questions. "If I speak two languages fluently and don't have math credits, but want to take the child care course, could I possibly join the marching band and keep two elective spaces for the fine arts?" It's the complete opposite of a "general question." During those times, I chatter to Chelsey about how I loved the "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton" pencils the teachers were giving out, or talked to Steve about how Garmunticor was the ultimate name. (Thanks Kevan!) I also whined to Michael and Steve (the lucky gentlemen sitting near me) about how I was apparently not able to take PE, orchestra, and Spanish in the same year. What swabs, those high school counselors, what swabs. :artist:
I was only in art club for a while, since I felt the need to catch up on homework. But, while I WAS there, I began the workings of a beautiful cactus-and-boot-in-desert painting, ate cookies, drank soda out of a mug I made in none other than Art Club, and created a new name with Nico. (See first word of title. The last parts were added for decoration.) :mischief:
Well, I believe I must watch Star Wars as I do my homeworkings. Until later, dear tabula people, until later! And do notice my late Christmas song! Did I HAVE to pick that one? Yes, I did.

Stomp Onstage! [18 Jan 2004|07:43pm]
[ music | Zero 7 - Destiny ]

I loved it, it was really fun and really LOUD! The performers are so talented. And it's totally different when you see it live, as opposed to on video like most people have. It was great and I can't explain it any better than that.
Afterwards, I went to Best Buy and got a new computer mouse, which I'm currently using. :-D
After getting "Paplo," short for "Paploo," a Star Wars character, (yes, friends, I've named my mouse...after a ewok in Star Wars) Mum and I went to Barnes and Noble to look at the music area. She told me about some CDs she likes and I did too. (GIFT EXCHANGE, COMING UP!) I also noticed that the new Marmalade Boy book is in! :) :) I was about to get it, but decided to wait. But, I've pretty much decided that I'm going to go to the Walkmen concert. I've loved them for so long and I love them so much, that it just seems obvious that I go. And besides, experiancing the 9:30 Club is an obvious must as well. Why say no?
Then, I went to La Madeline for dinner with Mum. I got a pastry thing, I totally forgot what's it's called, but it tasted like a breakfast thing. It had egg, ham, swiss cheese, and it was cooked in something remotely similar to a pie crust. DELISH!

It's a Beautiful Morning [17 Jan 2004|09:46am]
[ music | my brother's annoying, pleading voice ]

Last night I chatted with me cuzzie, Luke, for a little too long and then chatted with Elliott for a little too strange. Then I watched this VH1 thing on Micheal Jackson, which was non-biased, in my opinion. That made me smile. :-D

Then I watched an awesome old movie on TMC called, "The Spiral Staircase." It was black and white (as all entertaining movies are) and was about this mute girl who was going to be murdered and such and such. The murderer had murdered many times before, her grandmother or something tried to warn her, the girl saw the murderer and tries to call 911 but she can't talk, so that bombs. Then she walks down this spiral staircase but as she's on the way down, she sees the murderer standing at the bottom waiting to kill her. So, crazy ol' grandmother comes to save the day and shoots the guy with her shotgun. He falls to the ground, and then granny faints. Steven pops out of no where and helps granny while the girl calls the doc. She starts TALKING again, yeehaw! And she starts crying because it's all been too much to handle. THE END. It was good. And today I'm watching King Kong. (1970s version, though :()

Star Wars *In Fake British Accent* [15 Jan 2004|04:56pm]
[ music | Smashing Pumpkins - Ava Adore ]

Who woulda known? I'm still sick! Home about 7 days now...sick for about 10. It's getting ugly here, I tell ya. Like Quaz....
Went to the trusty 'ol doc a couple times. Might be the flu, drink a lot, cough the junk out of your lungs....stuff like that. I'm also drinking medicinal tea (HOME HEALIN'!) and taking my occasional bright orange pill. (Motrin-tin-tin.)
I really hope I get better over this week end because I'm supposed to see STOMP! onstage on Sunday and anyway...who wants to watch Bonanza, MatchGame, and The Real World day after day?
I'm catching on my homework like Wilma Rudolph wins races. I'm feeling a lot better about that. Except for stupid, stupid, stupid science. Which I wish I could just BURN it with the fire it so graciously created with all those stupid gases. I have to make up all the labs during lunch when I get back. Who wants to spend lunch doing labs in a cold science room with your teacher and having to fill out a bunch of annoying questions and getting them all wrong and having to spend ANOTHER lunch period having him re-explain in "more detail." Why am I in advanced science? How did I get to this place that's not Kansas?
Well, I need to go online and chat with my long-distance friends. Godspeed!

Movie, Movie, Movie [10 Jan 2004|03:29pm]
Still sick. Had another fever today and am still coughing. Will I ever get better? It's getting pretty annoying now!
I watched a bunch of movies so far though, the day's not done yet.

1.) Peter Pan (Disney cartoon version) Tinkerbell is so MEAN. Tons of people love her, but have they all seen the movie and seen how rude she can be? Peter is awesome though. I love him.

2.) Sinbad (cartoon version) Hehe, what's with me and cartoon movies today? Anyway, I thought it wouldn't be very good, but I actually loved it. It was the first time I'd watched it. Certainly not the last.

3.) The Princess Bride I've seen it a million times, but some parts still make me laugh. The book is really funny too. I should read it again tonight....jog my brain.

No QVC the past 2 days though....or at least not much. Yahoo! :-D

Did I fail to mention.... [09 Jan 2004|07:44am]
[ mood | crazy ]
[ music | Rasputina - Transylvania Concubines ]

THAT I'M HOME FROM SCHOOL AGAIN? I may be able to snap out of my QVC trance later and go to the last half of the school day, but for now....I'm in da casa.
I didn't exactly get a good sleep last night either. No sleep-talking, but there was a 12:00-12:-45 viewing of QVC. I caught the last part of the Tanzanite jewelry (most mined in Tanzania, that's how it got it's name) and a bit of "Home Style" ((Let's hope I'm only watching this because I'm sick....))
When Armand (me brother) came home and wanted to watch cartoons, I had to go to my room, so that means no home shopping. During that time, I took the grace of getting the Ugly Casanova songs from the CD I borrowed from Adrilou onto my iPod.
I first learned about Ugly Casanova a precious while ago when I started listening to the "majestic whimsy" (I've wanted to say that phrase for a few days now) of Modest Mouse. I had it, Ugly CD, on my Chrimbo list. Thank hippos that no one got it for me...I can just borrow from Adrilou! Thankies!

QVC OBSESSION [08 Jan 2004|02:28pm]
[ music | Ugly Casanova - Parasites ]

Staying home from school is heavenly, but every hour, you have a 5 minute period where you realize that you've had enough of this lazy lifestyle. I just had mine.
I had started watching QVC (home shopping channel) at 10:00 and had watched the whole 2 hours of the opal jewelry gem week special. During that time, I had a pizza and some ginger ale. Then, I half-watched the "Bath Shop" hour, which was about Egyptian cotton towels and stuff. I was trying to get my math homework done during that. After that, it was "Home Style" which I watched intensively while listening to my iPod. (I had the captions on the TV, so I'd feel like I was being smart and reading a book.) Then I read "The Joy Luck Club" for about 5 minutes while waiting for my chamomile tea to heat up and then steep. If I remember correctly, I then read the comics, watched a bit of the "Koos of Course" fashion special (which I thought was painfully boring), then ended up here. Thank lordy that I got myself away from that TV, I was going insane. I'm tempted to buy the stuff on that channel now, and I'm afraid I actually will. (Especially those water-resistant, floating lanterns that I saw yesterday during the "Fun and Leisure" show.) :julieDrools:
And I love hearing people calling in too, from Tennesee, Texas, California, New York, etc. Total fun. In fact, one caller said she was home sick today and had been watching all morning! (Just like me! Yeehaw!) :-D

Staying Home AGAIN [08 Jan 2004|10:36am]
[ music | QVC lady - voice talking about opals ]

Staying home from school again! No more fever, but I'm still coughing a lot and stuff.
I had a horrid last night though. It was like I was hallucinating or something. For the first part, around 3 or something, I went into my mum's room and was apparently blabbering about plastic, or what I should put on top of this plastic stuff. I think I was half-talking in my sleep, since I don't remember saying that. :-P Anyway, Mum just told me to go back to bed. But, Mum says, I kept coming back into her room and asking about it over and over. (The same plastic thing.) And I seemed to be in great distress over it. (Everything from here onward, I remembered...) Then I went back into my bedroom and laid in bed with the light on for about 15 minutes, having trouble getting to sleep. Then, a few minutes later, my mum came in and was asking me this freaky questions like, "Who's the president?" and "What day is it?" I answered them all right, and then she told me the tale about my plastic problems.
Well, I need to go watch the home shopping channel again. They're doing a special on opal jewelry, and I must say, they're very pretty. I learned that 90% of all opals are mined in Austrailia and that it's the only gem that contains all the colors of the rainbow. (Since it can change color!) Isn't that awesome? I LOVE the home shopping channel!!!!

Stayed Home [07 Jan 2004|06:21pm]
[ music | my throat - weak coughs ]

I'm ill. Had a 101 degree feeva last night and was coughing a real gunky cough.
I was entralled that I got to stay home, but I felt so horrible that the fun was sucked out. I watched Lord of the Rings to make me feel luckier than Frodo, watched What's Up Doc to make me laugh, and watched the QVC home shopping channel just for the fun of it. During all of this, I was having on and off naps. I'm shocked to inform you that I also fnished all of my homework AND took a shower. Even though I was so tired that it was hard to walk, I still managed to get my duties done! :)
Anyway, I'm going to go eat dinner.
I wonder if I'll go to school tomorrow...

Einstein's Jordan Equation [06 Jan 2004|05:48pm]
[ music | my throat - congested coughs ]

During art club, Eli and Nico were trying to explain to me why e=mc2 (squared) is the equation for Michael Jordan, and that everthing is related to Michael Jordan in some way.
Here are the facts:
~ e = everything
~ add the variable "i" to "mc" and you get MCI...Michael Jordan played there
~ the "square" ties in with the MCI center being square
~ they used 42 mm thick paper to figure out the problem, they said M. Jordan is 42
~ I'm related to Michael Jackson because I hace 5 fingers on my left hand, like he does

There was more, but I don't really want to go into anymore details.
Jeremiah was at art club too, as well as Jessica and Elizabeth. I didn't talk to Jeremiah much. I have no reason, because I have no reason why. I always kick myself after NOT doing things that I wanted to, things that I could have easily done if I'd not been such a worry-wart.

I felt ill today. Like, freezing-cold, gunky cough, pain in da eye ill. It's not a good type of ill. I hope I feel better soon, but I have all this homework to do that'll gimme a headache. Save me!

Ferrero Rocher [05 Jan 2004|08:31pm]
[ music | some nature guy - Jazz Loon CD ]

I never used to like them. Too chocolately to handle. Now they're starting to grow on me. Is that a good thing?

1.) Jeremiah broke his arm snowboarding.

2.) I finished all my homework. (see #6 for the bad news)

3.) I'm worried about my math quiz on Wednesday.

4.) I'm worried about my cello lesson on Wednesday.

5.) I'm stressed about whether or not to buy POTC on DVD now or wait until the package from Jamie and Lisa comes, since they might have gotten it for us.

6.) How will I get all my homework done, get Oliver practiced, and get my leisure time in tomorrow if I'm going to be at Art Club for two hours?

1----Ouch. I did tell him I hoped his arm gets better soon. And I advised him to get people to draw on his cast.

2-----Nothing rare, but I'm glad. Let's hope I can TOMORROW.

3-----Math has never been my strong suit. I just want to get an A this quarter. I'm at a 90% as we speak. Let's hope it STAYS at an A.

4-----Oliver, Oliver, how you spoil my sweet days of youth. I've been cramming practice since Sunday eve. I've already done about 2/3 a week's worth. But, I think/hope she'll understand that it was the holiday and I was taking it easy. AND my cello was REALLY outta tune.

5-----Pointless, why worry. Just wait. I'm such a freak-out person.

6-----I guess I'll have to kiss my TV/computer time goodbye.

The Three Musketeers [05 Jan 2004|03:38pm]
[ music | Foo Fighters - Californication ]

At one point on the drive back home, I saw from my window this guy lying on the ground. It was pouring rain, so it seemed sorta stupid. So, Mum went over to him to make sure he was ok. He was breathing, she told me later, but when she shook him, he didn't respond or anything. A couple friendly neighbors came over too too see what was jumpin. So, me mum called 911 and "the three musketeers" came. (Ambulance, fire truck, and police car.) They figured that he had been drinking or something and had passed out. (Dumo, what a loser.) Anyway, from our car, I watched the police lady pinch his toes and all this other stuff that's supposed to wake unconcious people up. Then we started driving back home to enjoy our hot chocolate and cookies. But, since we had to U-turn and stuff, we passed the police pow-wow a few times and saw that the brainless man in the drunken stupour had gotten up and was sitting cross-legged, talking to the police. (Perhaps trying to dream up an excuse for him acting like a total idiot.) Just as a closing comment, I found the whole situation pathetic and sickening. It shows how drinking can make you look like a total dumo.

First day back at school was good, considering it was a Monday. (And how great can Mondays be?) All my classes went ok, same as usual. I still have a howlin' elephant load of homeworkings, which I need to start on soon. But, I'm really excited because Mum and I are going to make cake and stuff for next Tuesday. I've been wanting an excuse to have a birthday cake or something but couldn't think of one. Then, BINGO, I remember Orlando Bloom's birthday is on the 13th of this month! Cookies and ice cream for all! :) :)

Super Fun Bookclub Eve [04 Jan 2004|05:11pm]
[ music | Van Morrison - Moondance ]

Book club was really fun. After we talked about the book, people who don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom, how shaking hands isn't exactly sanitary, and all this other awesome stuff, Camille, Danielle, Robbie, and I went outside to play soccer. We were laughing a LOT and yelling and stuff and then this random lady yelled from her window on the second floor, "You all should stop making so much noise, you're not supposed to be on the grass anyway!" So we sat in silence for a moment then Camille yelled, "TIME TO GO INSIDE!" and we shuffled back in for more tea, fruit thingies on toothpicks (coustesy of me), Rice Krispie Treats (courtesy of me), cookies, lemonade, juice, baby carrots, and celery.
What a charming eve it's been. And guess what else? Oliver is tuned! HUzzAH!

I did a story for English about a bear activist who was mauled by a bear. Startlingly enough, there was an article in the paper today about something like that that happened. I can't wait to tell my teach that!

I watched October Sky today. I cannot believe how much Jake Gyllenhaal resembles Tobey Maguire. It's like a carbon copy. I kept getting them mixed up. It's a little harder to notice in Spiderman, but believe me....Watch October Sky and it's going to be obvious!

Oliver is Insane [03 Jan 2004|10:31pm]
[ music | The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So ]

Had dindin at Adrilou's, as I said before. Adrilou, Robbie, Camille, me, and Jake where there. Muy funnies and yummies. We had asparagus soup (don't scream, it was good), sauseges (how do you spell that? Not the way I spelt it, that's all I know), and some other stuff. I'm too frustrated to list.
Stupid Oliver is so out of tune that I can't fix him. I can usual turn his tuning things a little and all is nifty, but he is seriously freaking out. I did not practice at all this whole break and I was going to a lot tonight. My lesson's on Wedsey and I have a feeling things won't go well. (For your information, Oliver is my cello, I named him, I should have said that in the first place.) Help me.
On the acutely brighter side, my cousin Luke, in Iowa, forfilled his promise and gave my uncle a Maroon 5 poster he got from a concert they did at his college. (Lucky college ducks.) So my uncle came by to give that to me, as well and a wagonload of presents for my mom.
Well, I must go. 1.) To cry over my certain death on Wednesday 2.) To watch a movie and 3.) Get the new pictures I got mounted on my wall.

48 Hours of Colleen [03 Jan 2004|05:53pm]
[ music | Les Miz - On My Own ]

Double sleepover, I guess you could call it.
She got the Michael Jackson Number Ones Music Video DVD. Very fun. I almost have got the moonwalk learned.
We also did "Reader's Theatre" with a Michael Jackson - Oprah interview. Not typical Reader's Theatre material, eh?
We also learned to play some random songs on the piano, half memorized the dance sequences in "Bad," visited Cameron's hamsters, watched movies, and deeply discussed our pet peeves.
I'm still in shock that our winter vacation is officially over. I thought I had so much time, but know I'm lying in a pool of homework and books that I need to get read. I hate the people who make the dates for this stuff.
Ugh, gotta fly. I'm off to dinner at Adrilou's. Short notice stuff makes my nose wrinkle, I hope all goes well.
