What’s Love Got To Do With It?
“By this, all will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:25
While I was reading this passage, this verse stuck out and caught my eye. Love? I was really thinking about what the meaning of it meant. I looked “love” up in a dictionary. It gave a good example: “Love – strong affection for another.”
Think about God’s love. Did He have a strong affection for us? As I started really studying this verse, I thought, “Do I show love in my every day life?” To my disappointment, my honest answer was ‘no’. In our society today, people would rather hate one another than to show love to each other.
The Devil has taken the world, and has completely turned it upside down! In everyway he can, he tries to get people to despise each other. Satan gives people anger and strong emotions so whenever he wants to push your buttons, he will know exactly which ones to push.
This goes right along with another verse. Paul warns us in 1 Peter 5:8b says, “your enemy, the Devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” Satan will use whatever way he possibly can to destroy you – even through hatred.
Jesus tells us to love one another. He doesn’t say, “Like one another as I like you.” Jesus Christ loves us. By loving others, we are showing that we love Him who abides in us. So show that Jesus reigns in your life in one way, by using love. Love when others won’t love and help when others won’t help. Stand up for Christ.

Ask God to speak to you about love. Now read John 3:16. I know you probably can recite it, but look it up in your Bible please. Study this verse and think about the true meaning of love. Where would we all be if God didn’t love us enough to save us? What would be our eternal destiny then? How would that change the way your life went day-by-day? …Rough questions, huh???
