Temptation, That’s Funny…
“For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to help those who are tempted.”
- Hebrews 2:18
Life on earth = temptation is a sense. A lot of stuff on earth is very tempting. The Devil made it that way, we he first persuades Adam and Eve to sin. Ever since then, he has shoved iniquity in everything on earth that he could.
Jesus has lived on earth. He has been tempted also. The Devil tempted Jesus three times and that’s just in one chapter of Matthew. Jesus never gave into him though. He didn’t give in, because He came here for a purpose, and the purpose was to die; to die for us.
He knew He was on a mission and if He gave into Satan once, all our lives would be at stake and we would all go to an eternal burning place called Hell. But Jesus saved us from that. He wanted us to have a personal relationship with Him. He wanted us to spend eternity in Heaven, not Hell.
Have you been tempted a lot lately? I know that Satan throws things in my life all the time, trying to tempt in. He wants me to be so very far from God, and He would have already separated me from God if it wasn’t for Jesus being in my life.
Maybe you are having problems and troubles with this subject? Even though you might think, “Jesus doesn’t understand. He was perfect. What did He have to worry about?” Well, let me tell you, Jesus was tempted. Jesus could have sinned and did the things of the world, but He loved us and still does. He knew that He was the only way for us to have eternal life and salvation, so He laid down His life hoping that one day we will receive Him as Savior. He didn’t have to, but He did.
So Jesus does understand. He knows that it can be hard. That’s why He wants to help us. He knows best. So, next time you see a temptation coming and the Devil wants to distract you and to get your focus off of God, say “no”. Remember the sacrifice that was made for YOU! Don’t let Satan drag you down using temptations with the rest of the world, but stand up for Jesus. Remember, He is on your side!!!!!
