Read The Instructions
"This book of the Law shall not depart from your
mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night."
- Joshua 1:8a
In my daily quiet time today, God spoke to me through
this specific verse. I know I haven't been doing enough
of what this verse commands at all lately.Have you???
It says that the Bible and the verses and commands
in it should not depart from our mouths. We are suppose
to obey God's Word and let Him turn us inside-out. We
are suppose to meditate on it not just in the night, and
not just in the day - but both, night & day.
When you think of meditate, what does it mean to you?
To me, when this verse says to meditate on His Word, it
means to: read the Bible, learn from the Bible, study the
Bible, and to let His Word run through your mind, your
heart, and your ways all day and night.
Do I obey this commandment like God wants me to?
I shamefully say that I don't. I need to though. I seek
after Him, but I know that I could be closer.
One of my favorite songs is by Pillar called "Further".
One of the lyrics is: "I'm further, further from myself
when I'm next to you and when I run to you!". That's
exactly how it is in very plain and simple text.
When we are next to God and seekin' after Him
with a strong desire and passion, we are lowering our
lives and increasing in Him. We are growing more like
Christ and growin' more and more unlike that sin
that holds us back from giving our full potential.
You know, if we draw close to God, then He will
draw close to us. It promises that in the Bible(James
4:8a). How great is that?!?! All we have to do is
seek after the Creator of the world & draw near to
Him, and He draws near to us. Our God is definetly
an "AWESOME GOD"!!!
So, this week pray about this verse. Ask God to
speak to you through His Word. Really try to meditate
on the Bible. He put every verse in there for a reason:
to draw us closer to Him. Dive into God's Word. Believe
me, it won't let you down.
