-Why Don’t You Listen?-
“But they refused to stop, shrugged their shoulders, and quit listening so that they could not hear.”
- Zechariah 7:11
Have you ever witnessed to somebody? I don’t mean just inviting them to church or a religious activity, but sharing with them the gospel (the good news of Jesus). Sometimes, it’s really tough to witness to some people.
You really don’t know how they are going to react, until you finally do tell them of how Jesus has changed your life. Some people act calm and silent, others get mad or angry. Some people feel empty inside, but say nothing and others are convicted and saved by God’s grace.
When I read the verse above, I thought of people that turn away when they hear the gospel. Most sinners that say “no” to God are usually hurt; by either other Christians, other churches, preachers, and sometimes even mad at God because they think He treated them wrong in their life.
It makes me sad, when I read this verse, because it’s totally true. People are convicted by the Holy Spirit of their sins, but aren’t ready to give their lives over to Him (meaning Jesus). So, they refuse to stop sinning and living the way they do. They close the door to their heart, therefore, shutting Jesus out.
Let me tell you right now God loves you!!! He wants the very best for your life, but the question is: Are you surrending 100% to Him? Or are you holding parts of your life back? You cannot serve the world and God (Matthew 6:24). You either live for Him and hate the world or live for the world and hate God. So choose your eternity wisely, ‘cause the truth is: you only get one chance to live.
