Proverbs 23:4
"Do not overwork yourself to be rich, Because of your own understanding, cease!"

* Picture this: On your birthday, your family is handing you your gifts when it comes around to your grandma's turn to give what she has gotten you. She hands you a white envelope. You tear it open hoping for money, until you see a little slip of paper inside. To your suprise, it was a lottery ticket. Your grandma says they are about to pick the numbers. So, you turn on the television and they just started.
They announce that the first number is 4. You look at your ticket and see a 4. They announce that the second and third numbers are twenty-one and thirty-three. You quickly glance down at the ticket and see 21 and 33. Your heart starts beating faster. All you need to win five million dollar is to get the next two numbers right.
They just chose the fourth number. You say to yourself, "Pick a 61, pick 61, please pick 61." Then the host announces, "And the fourth number is sixty-one. You freak out. You can't believe you are only one number away from your life making a dramatic change. "And the last number is 9." Your heart races and your hands start to shake. The fifth number you have on your ticket is nothing else, but nine. You scream with joy and hug your grandma. You can't wait to recieve the money.
* Okay, that would be a nice story if it happened to you, right? I know if I had that experience, it would really change my life. I can't even imagine what I'd do with it all.
* Even though you won 5,000,000 dollars, you don't get all that amount once they take out taxes and other expenses. I bet you could buy a lot of things with all that money. I know a lot of stuff I would get if I won that amount of money.
* Just think though. What happens when you buy so much stuff? You start running out of the money you won. No matter what others may say...money doesn't last forever. It can give you happiness, but it can't give you joy.
* You could get lucky like in the story up above or you could work all your life and still not make half that amount. But either way, at some point in your life, that money is going to run out. It's not everlasting.
* You can put all your sweat, blood, and time into the work, but it still doesn't make any difference. "Money isn't life and life isn't priced."
* Solomon, Agur, and Lemuel (the authors of Proverbs) are telling us that money isn't everything. You can lose money as fast as you made it. You can be the richest man/woman on this earth, but that can all change in seconds.
* Don't make money a big part of your life. God will take care of all your needs. We should be storing up treasures in Heaven, not on earth. Don't be like the rich man who walked away from eternal life because of not being able to give up all his possessions. Forsake everything in this world and follow Jesus.
* Don't waste your time trying to be the top dawg, the most successful businessman, or the richest guy on earth. You only live life once and you cannot turn back the hands of time. So, quit spending all your time working so that you can obtain lots of money and many possessions. They don't last like God does. So in conclusion: "Put your money, where you heart is".
