amusedWe're testing building fire alarms today. It is very noisy in here. I think I'll go outside. (currently 42 degrees out there...)

Christmas went well. Since the traffic was almost non-existant, I got over to Mom & Dad's in about 15 minutes. Mom's cold was still hangin' on, but by its fingernails. Dad was a bit careless with his words (as expected), but the mood wasn't ruined too much.
I received a portable DVD player (at home charging up as I type), a fake aquarium/light, some Godzilla movies & CDs, a gift card to B & N & some $$$. Had din-din afterwards & them Mom went back to bed cuz she wasn't feeling too good again.
I left around 6:30 & went home & went to sleep myself. I guess my internal clock is still a little messed up from being on night shift for so long.....I slept all night long. It was nice.
Back to work the next morning & it was a madhouse. While the campus is in "holiday shutdown", Contractors are brought in to perform maintanence on all of the systems, re-pave the parking lots & whatever else is difficult to do while pesky employees are underfoot.... Everyone wants a badge - Alarms are going off all over the place - Doors have to be unlocked - All going on at once. I was a basket case by Wednesday afternoon.....
Went home & had to make another batch of pound cake for my friends that I visited in California this past weekend. I made them lemon flavor this year. They fought over it. That amused me.
While over there, I was told of another friend on mine who was in the hospital & had to have open heart surgery that afternoon to replace/repair a valve that wasn't working. I don't talk with him often...maybe once in the last 3 years...but I keep up with what he's up to by way of the grapevine. He's 37. Just shows conditions like this strike all ages.....
I suppose I'll get back to watching CCTV monitors again & see what evil is lurking in our parking lots.
