Bill & I went to the State Fair today (10/21). We went to the Gretchen Wilson concert . My hearing has mostly returned. Concert was extremely good (and loud). She did New Country, Old Country, Southern Rock, regular rock & Bluegrass. She had pyrotechnics!! It was quite the experience. She only has 2 albums out, so she did most everything, plus a song from the album that's due out sometime in Spring 2007. 4 1/2 out of 5 rating.
We arrived down there around noon-ish & parked by the Capitol & took the free shuttle to the fairgrounds. We roamed aimlessly for a while - just seeing if there was anything that would be worth investigating.... Mutual of Omaha had an animal exhibit with episodes of the series "Wild Kingdom" playing (the new one??) and another room with animatronic animals. Semi-interesting. I may have to go back & see more of the programs they were showing. The a/c in there was working nicely!!
I stopped by the Watkins booth in the Commercial Exhibit Building & got a can of Chai, some Grapeseed garlic oil & a jar of pumpkin butter. Roaming around a little more, we passed a booth that was promoting Fibersure. The nice lady out front gave me 6 sample packets of the stuff.....I wonder if she was trying to tell me something??
I only went on one of the rides cuz I just didn't feel like doing more. Bill & I have an annual tradition. It is called "The Log Ride". I ended up about as soaked as last year. Perfect on a day like that! Bill went on a couple of other rides just to use up his tickets & then we roamed around the grounds about 3 - 4 times before getting into line for the concert around 5:00pm (it started at 7:00pm). Boy, were my feet sore!!!
One interesting thing I did was to stop at one of the Fortune Teller's booths & have my cards read. She spread the cards on the table and asked me to draw 10 of them from the deck.... I am writing this here as something of a record that it happened. Time will tell if it happens the way it came out...
She said that I would be buying a house late next year. In the early part of 2007, my career / job will dramatically improve. Also, in the early part of 2007, I will meet a woman who I will "click" with almost immediately. She will have dark hair & be about 5 years younger than me. (I didn't ask where I would meet her...drat). There would be a strong likelyhood of being married to her in about 2 years.
The last time I did anything similar to this at the fair was getting my palm read about 7 - 8 years ago. It was scary how accurate she was - I haven't done it again since.
Anyway - I thought it was an interesting "forecast".....
Like I said - my feet are sore, I feel like I've got a coating of "something" all over me & I think I'm gonna go soak in the tub for a bit & try to loosen up a little.
Until next time....

Happy Birthday, Ozzy!!!!!
Took Mom out to see "Flags of Our Fathers" this afternoon. She had read the book & wanted to see the movie. While not quite as intense as "Saving Private Ryan", it was still pretty darn strong in spots. There wasn't as much background into the character's pasts as in the book, but I'm sure those who haven't read it won't know the difference. We were at the 3:40pm showing at AMC Deer Valley 30. The theater almost needs a road map to find one's way around...or maybe leaving a trail of popcorn kernels to find one's way out again wouldn't be a bad idea. 30 screens - should I expect any less?.....
It's just amazing what soldiers in war go through. Why we still have wars is beyond my comprehension....
