Had one of the most BO-RIIIIING nights in recent memory last night. My trainee did all of the driving. We had 20 site hits & 10 hours to get them done. We dragged our feet most of the night & got back to the office at a decent time... I'm stuck with him again tonight unless his guard card came in...which I doubt it did. This is an exercize in tolerance for me... I'm used to getting the stuff put in the car & hitting the road. It took him about 20 minutes to get out of the parking lot. He had a stack of maps on his clipboard that he would painstakingly study at each stop like a brainiac studying for the SAT's....My mind was screaming "HURRY UP"!!!! at him all night long... The fact that he smokes like a chimney doesn't help much. No...not in the patrol car...that (Thankfully) isn't allowed! I wish we had gotten a few alarms - maybe that would have lit a fire under him a bit!
As you can tell...I do NOT enjoy being a passenger in situations like this. I do NOT like waiting for other people who have to take their own sweet time in doing things. I am going to have to bring a book with me tonight to keep my mind away from "Mr Molassas uphill in January" I was only needed for a couple of minor things as far as directions were concerned. I almost fell asleep in the back seat - I was so bored.
Ozzy called me a couple of times from her "Paradise on Earth" Office (she was doing dispatch again...) to do some venting in my direction. SO glad I don't deal with that &^%$# anymore!!!!!
I'm gonna try & go back to sleep now. Awake before noon does not make for good nights.....
