Mystery Creature Lurks In Baltimore County [20 Jul 2004|12:42am]
POSTED: 5:19 am EDT July 19, 2004
UPDATED: 6:42 am EDT July 19, 2004

GLYNDON, Md. -- A mystery animal is on the loose in Baltimore County and not even the experts can pin down what it is.

A Glyndon man found a way to secretly record the beast while it grazed in his yard. For a while it was just lurking in the woods watching the Wroe family until the Wroes started watching it.

Jay Wroe: "My truck was parked here, started getting in my truck. I kind of saw it there where the sunlight is and said what in the world is that?"

Jacob Wroe: "It looked so weird to me. I didn't know what it was."

Wanting to get a better look at the beast stalking his family, Jay Wroe put technology to work for him.

Jay Wroe: "The next day, I hooked up just portable motion detectors, and put them down back in the woods there."

The trap worked.

Jay Wroe: "Very bizarre. I went and got my father and cousin and they came and looked at it and their reactions were pretty much the same -- what in the world are we looking at?"

More than a month after the first sighting, the creature has become a neighborhood regular and showing up often.

Kim Carlsen: "It comes to our house. It's been up in the woods for a while and it comes up through the bottom of our yard and eats our cat food."

Despite the fact it's lurking in these woods and no one knows when or where it will come out, no one here seems afraid of it.

Jacob Wroe: "I don't know, it doesn't look like it's going to harm anybody."

Even the other neighborhood animals like Bullwinkle the dog next door seem okay with the beast.

Kim Carlsen: "It's not afraid of the cats and the cats seem to get along with it fine."

The beast is not shy, and visits most often under bright sun. While no one here knows what it is, they do have a name for it -- the hyote, a combination of a hyena and a coyote.

My prayer today... [19 Jul 2004|10:29am]
Psalm 59
1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
4 They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.
5 Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.
6 They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?
8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
14 And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.
16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

Unwavering Courage... [18 Jul 2004|06:29pm]
[ music | Beethoven's Entire 9th ]

Martin Luther.

What a man! Not to marvel at his achievements, but he stood up and defended what he believed in and because he did what God called him to do, he translated the Holy Scriptures into the common language of the Germans. He put his life on the line for God. His whole life was dedicated to God as a Catholic Monk in the 1400s. After reading the scriptures in the original Greek and Hebrew he realized how much the Catholic church mis-interpreted the Holy Scriptures into Latin. Unwavering Courage! He then wrote 95 thesis and nailed them to the door of the Catholic Church in Vitenburg. He challenged the ultimate human governal authority on the planet. This is during the same time of the Catholic Inquitision where the Catholic Church murdered 85,000,000 people in the name of Jesus. What a man Luther was, God used him to bring light to the poor and even rich, but poor in heart. People that have no faith in anything. God used Luther to do that.

I wish the world knew what they have. They have the God-given scriptures that they can read which is a love letter from God to us, and so many men gave their lives to preserve the word of God. God used to the devotion of his children to accomplish this. They say the average person lives to be 72 years old, and the average Christian will read the bible less than 7 months in their entire lifetime, but watch 9 years worth of Television. Why not read the Word of God? Why not read what so many men died for and what so many men tried to destroy. Why is it that men and women that are in power always have sought to destroy the scriptures saying its for the good of the people? What are they so afraid of? What is there to fear from a love letter from God?

I love Jesus so much. And may my faith in Jesus Christ be as unwavering as Luther's was. Selah.

Decisions that are made with Blood... [27 Jun 2004|06:47pm]
[ mood | AWESOMENESS ]
[ music | Waterdeep ]

There are some decisions that I have made recently that outrighty just needed to be made. These decisions will influence who I will become in life. These decisions had to be made or I would spend the rest of my with Kendra or without her. Its a decision I am not compromising on. Its a decision I will have to keep with 110% of who I am, for 100% is not enough. Its a decision that might bring me to the point of burn-out physically or emotionaly. But by my God it must be done!

The first decision is to trust God. Its not easy. Its not even semi-hard. Its horrible. To give up worrying about things, to give up what I WANT is the hardest thing to do. I must trust God. He says that he knows the thoughts and future he has for me. That they are good thoughts and its a good future. He will take care of me. I will trust God even if it leads me to my death. If I die trusting God, then it will be a mighty death. But God will not lead me to my death. He will lead me to my life. I must trust that he knows best. I believe in my heart that he IS the King of kings and he IS the Lord of lords. And that nothing happens without God knowing about it. A sparrow doesn't fall to the ground without God taking notice. He sees everything I see, and he sees everything I dont see. I will trust him. He has my life.

The second decision is to trust in God's Love. To give up all my love to God. To let my love be purified by him. To be perfected in His blood. His precious blood. I must trust in love that knows NO FEAR. His word speaks of 'perfect love throws out all fear.' I must trust in such a love. I cannot stand to trust in love that is fallible. Love that is love one second and the next is lust. Most of you know how easy it is. Its so easy to love someone and then get into a tickle play and then all of sudden there is touching of areas that are reserved for the sanctity of marriage. Our love goes from love to lust in an instant. How can I trust in such a love? I must trust in love that is perfect. Love that is constant. Love that never and will never in a million years turn into lust. SO AWESOME IS HIS LOVE! I make the decision to trust in such a love.

The third decision is to believe God. I want to take God at his word. When God says speak to him or her. That I can know that it is God telling me to do it. That I dont doubt him. Abraham was called 'the friend of God, because he believed God.' Abraham took God at His word. When God called Abraham to leave his home and everything he held dear. He left and God blessed him. He blessed him with the heritage of being the father of the present-day Israel. I want to be called a friend of God. On my tombstone when I die I want to be called a friend of God. Not just because I want it, but because it was who I was. I have to believe God. He is my life. My joy. My happiness. My salvation. My God.

The fourth decision is to reject LUST in all shapes, sizes and objects. I must protect my eyes and my thoughts of the filth that Satan has perverted. LUST isn't just women or porn or that. Its lusting after anything you can't get. Lusting after a woman on the internet is coveting. I must abject from this. I refuse to watch movies with sexual content in it. Why do I need to watch a movie with chicks having sex or girls dancing with tons of suggestive meanings? Why do I NEED this? I dont. The only woman I ever want to see naked or dancing suggestivly is my wife. She is the only one I will want. If I allow myself to lust now, what will stop me from doing it in 3 years when I get married. Am I just to stop? Its not that easy. Maybe for a girl it is, but for a guy its not. Its a decision I will make. Even if my body craves it. Even if my body craves the self-pleasurement of masturbation. I will not give him for my wife's sake and my children's sake.

What do you think? [26 Jun 2004|02:09am]
"Sexy" Fashions . . . What Do Men Think?

by Mike Mathews

How do those "sexy" fashions really affect men? As a man, I'd like to explain.

Frequently I see women poured into tight jeans and short mini-skirts. Others wear revealing blouses, tight sweaters and sheer pants. Women are wearing "sexy" fashions just about everywhere - to work, school and even to church.

But do "sexy" clothes get women what they really want? Are these women striving to be honored, loved and respected by men?

Sometimes when I see women wearing "sexy" outfits, I wonder . . . Maybe she's looking for a boyfriend or hoping she'll attract her future husband? Or, maybe she feels she has to show off parts of her body to compete with other women for her boyfriend or husband's love and attention?

Maybe it's a power rush for some women to know their body caught a man's eye and became the focus of his attention. Maybe turning heads and hearing hoots and wistles is an ego booster for some?

It may be these reasons or others, but the bottom line is this: Dressing in "sexy" clothes will not cause men to honor and respect women. In fact, it actually guarantees women that men will dishonor and disrespect them.

What Triggers Sexual Thoughts in Men?

It's natural to want to dress attractively. But without always being aware of it, women who wear "sexy" clothes are "dressing for sex" -- that is, dressing in ways that set off sexual thoughts in men.

Why do men react this way, and why don't women always realize it? Because men and women are "wired" differently when it comes to the human body. The fact is, it doesn't take much visual stimulus at all for guys to become sexually aroused. The sight of the female body - even just a little bit and even if it's a complete stranger -- can trigger sexual thoughts instantly. This might be difficult for women to understand, but it's absolutely true.

How about women? My female friends tell me that, sure . . . women appreciate handsome, well-built men -- but women are not affected visually in the same intense way that men are. Women for example, find words of love, tenderness and sincere appreciation much more meaningful than physical images of men.

Given these differences, there's no question that "sexy" clothes will get a man's attention. For some women this may seem flattering or fun at first, but ultimately, it's not fulfilling because it won't attract the kind of attention -- or the man -- that a woman really wants. Why? Because it causes men to want to "use" women sexually rather than love them for who they are.

Remember, the sight of a woman's body is so powerful for men, that unless men are well trained and highly disciplined, it's difficult for them to refrain from sexual thoughts. And once these thoughts begin, they can, and frequently do, turn to impure thoughts (ie. "If only we were alone, I'd sure like to . . . ").

These thoughts are called lust, and the clothes women wear can actually trigger these thoughts in a split second. Don't be mistaken, men are responsible for their thoughts, but what women wear -- how women present themselves -- plays a major role. Dressing "sexy" is like sending an invitation to men. Sure, if a man lets his mind run wild with lust when he sees a woman, he's responsible for the thoughts he entertains. But ladies, don't you see that what you wear can be an invitation to temptation?

Why do Men see Women as Sex Objects?

Whether you know it or not, if you dress in revealing clothes, many men will see you as a "sex object." Not only that, but the way you dress can affect how men view other women as well. When women dress in "sexy" clothes, it not only promotes lustful thoughts, but it also encourages men to develop a warped vision of all women -- a view that can cause men to think of and treat all women as sex objects.

Whether it's conscious or unconscious, if you present yourself in a way that is sexually revealing, even in the slightest of ways, many men will want your body for their own sexual pleasure without regard for you as a person. Dressing this way will cause people to think of you as sexually loose. Men you meet will be constantly distracted with sexual temptations and find it hard to ever get to know you as a person. Some will verbally harass you. Others will tell you they love you -- or anything they think you want to hear -- just to get into bed with you. Still others will try to grope -- or even rape you.

Now let me be clear. No matter how a woman is dressed, it's never an excuse for rape or sexual aggression of any kind. Men who commit these acts have committed a sin and a crime. Nothing I'm saying is an excuse or a rationalization for rape or sexual assault. As a man, I'm here to tell you that men must be more disciplined. We must control our thoughts and actions no matter what temptations are presented before us.

But ladies, we need your help. Please don't be misled by women's magazines that say the only thing guys are after is sex. Don't think you've got to dress "sexy" to compete for the "good" guys. That's not true. It's guys who want to use you sexually (either in their minds or in person) that are going to encourage you to dress "sexy."

Good guys are out there and you don't have to show off your body to meet them. Be patient. Deep down inside, guys want to meet and marry girls who are pure, modest and virtuous. And what you wear tells the world a great deal about what you think about yourself. It speaks volumes about what qualities you give high priority to when it comes to relationships.

Do you want men to think of lustful thoughts when they see you? Will that attrack good men?

I know it may seem that good men are few and far between, but they are out there. And remember, the way you dress can help encourage more men to be good and treat women with respect.

Love the You Inside!

Most women want to be loved and respected for who they are inside, not for their looks. Isn't that what you want? Don't you want to be loved by a man who loves you for who you are inside? This kind of man is a sincere, pure-hearted, virtuous man -- a man who's confident, disciplined and committed to you and your relationship.

This is a man with sexual self-control. It's not a man who's looking for quick flings or lusting after every cute girl he sees.

But what role does modesty play? Katherine Kersten, commentator on National Public Radio and chairman of the Center of the American Experiment, wrote:

"But modesty is about something more -- simple fairness. We women demand respect from men, insisting that they value us not for our looks, but for 'who we are.' It is hypocritical to do this, and then dress and act immodestly -- intentionally provoking sexual desire, and signaling our easy openness to it. To act this way is to undermine our own dignity, to treat ourselves as 'sex objects.' Moreover, it is patently unfair, for it means that we are holding men to a higher standard than we hold ourselves."

Finding Lasting Love . . .

If you are seeking lasting love and a life-long marriage that unites mind, soul and body -- the best way to achieve this is by being the kind of person you want your future spouse to be. Think of yourself and your future mate as someone with integrity, a vibrant personality and a strong character. If you develop these qualities and demonstrate them through words, actions and appearance, it will help you attract the same in a spouse.

Many good men are out there -- men with wonderful personalities, men who are respectful, intelligent and looking for a long-term relationship -- men who will be faithful and committed to one wife for life. To find a truly honorable man like this, remember that he'll be attracted to a woman who dresses modestly as a sign of her purity and a sign that she recognizes each person is unique, unrepeatable and created in the image and likeness of God.

By dressing modestly, a woman sends a message to the world -- that every person was created to love and be loved in the purest of ways. Modesty also shows the great reverence we should have for our bodies and our immortal souls -- two sacred gifts that should always be treated with dignity and respect.

If you want a man to respect you, and perhaps eventually fall in love with you, then you must show him that you respect yourself and that you recognize your dignity before God. The best way to show this is through modesty in dress, words, thoughts and actions.

In closing, I want to thank all women who dress modestly. I sincerely appreciate it when a woman makes this extra effort.

I personally know several women who always dress in modest clothes. When I see them, I always try to let them know how much I appreciate their pretty, modest attire. Many of these women are very beautiful, but what makes them even more attractive than physical beauty or fashionable clothes, is the virtue of modesty which glows through their spirit. Their modesty shows thoughtfulness, inner strength and a great respect for others. Modesty also shows a pure heart and a generous desire to save oneself for a spouse (future or current).

Ladies, thank you for your modesty! It really helps us men.

(Now for the big question - What do YOUR clothes say about you?)

Speed and Time... [24 Jun 2004|11:33pm]
John here.

Well I am here at NVC just chilling on the computer. But how I got here is a very interesting day...and here is that day.

I woke up at about 9am, and just chilled in my room for a bit reading my bible. I didn't read as much as I should have, but I did read it. I also heard mom telling me that she wanted me to go to the store and get some water for her and the family. That starlted me because of the plans I had planned for that day. My plans were as follows: 1) Wake up and Pray. 2) Call Kendra at 1030 3) Go over to Kendra's around 11. And so on. So I had to rush to the store quickly and then rush back to call Kendra. I then took a shower and so on.

After I got dressed, I came downstairs and had a prayer meeting with the family to which I found out a piece of information that was very disturbing to my family. The night before when my sister and her husband came over, I left right after dinner to go spend time with my good friends; Bobby J. and Caleb P. While I was over there a conversation was established between my parents and my sister and her husband. The conversation started out by saying that my sister hated my dad for forcing her to attend church. And that she and her husband have decided to stop going to church and they have decided to stop sending my nephew to church as well. They feel that the church is money hungry and that its worthless to worship something you can't see or feel or touch. (I disagree. You can touch, see and feel God.) So my parents are greatly torn over this.

If I may add to this, I love the fact that my parents 'forced' me to attend church. Sure there were times I hated going. Just like the time I carved pentagrams into my hands and refused to go to church. But I tell you what. I praise God for his mercy and forgiveness. Most gods of men would kill them or punish them for such an act, but my God is the God a love and He is a Jealous God. He is a Jealous Lover, and I love loving him back for all he has done in my life.

So anyways, Kendra came by the house in tortuga. And took me to her house. We chilled out a little bit and hugged on each other while I was installing some software on her iMac. So after a bit of this and that. Her and I made some Turkey Hamburgers. You ask; Is there really such a thing? I say, 'yes, there is.' They have a taste that is so much more fulfilling than actual beef, and I venture to say that they are probally more healthy for you. Its something to think about eh?

A little while longer and after her and I had a tickle fight and a conversation about how strongly we need to exhibit purity in private and not just in public. It was raining and thundering outside and it was awesome. Kendra's Grandmother walks in almost in tears telling us about something. She told us that Jeremy (her nephew; Kendra's cousin) was outside cussing and screaming and wanting her to give him money. Kendra's Grandmother is a wealthy 80year old Christian woman. Absoluty awesome woman. But he was out there in her huge beautiful yard in his old firebird, making holes in her yard, tearing it up because he wanted her to give him money. She has already bailed him out of jailed and paid for his court cost and lawyer cost and gas money and car and such. HE NEEDS A JOB! The bible says that bible is the root of all evil. This guy started hating everyone even his dad who was trying to stop him from doing such a thing in the yard.

Then right after all this happened. Kendra and I realized that we needed to be at NVC at 530. To which it was 5 already and it would take us 20min. So Kendra threw something on that was dressy to wear for her group couseling class. And Kendra and I jumped into tortuga and drove like mad out to NVC. I prayed over that car that we would make it. And so yeah we got here, and we are running across the parking lot because its 528. And they will close the door at 530. (I saw some girls just 30min ago that tried to come in 5min late and they told them, 'no'.) So praise God. We came upstairs to see where it was and Kendra didn't know where her ticket was, because she needed a pass to get into this class. So she looked through her purse and didn't know where it was. So I asked her if it was in the car, and she said maybe its in her walet. And I asked where is her wallet and she didn't know. So I just told her I would go run out to the car and check, so thats what I did and I found her wallet. PRAISE GOD! Then I came back and she had found the ticket somewhere in her purse. So PRAISE GOD! For that too! So she was able to get into the class. And here I am.

After this, I will go back to her house and finish the video we were working on. And then head home and then she her Sunday at Tree of Life Church.

Days With Pure Beauty [22 Jun 2004|09:41am]
I woke up today not really wanting to start my day at all. Though from the moment of waking up I knew I had to get up and confess certain things over my life. Things such as confessing that I will not lust and I will crucify my flesh that day. Also to die to myself and dedicate my day to God and totally trust him about what to do. So I did that and came downstairs and turned the computer back on from being in hibernate mode, and so I sat down. Then I click AOL and boom..Bang..Kendra was right there online.

I love Kendra. She has given me so much in life to look forward to on the physical level. Like the idea of having her as my wife and/or the mother of my kids. Its a great thought.

I then got some chores done and took the Maxima to go pick up Kendra and we went to Circuit City to look at some higher-end pro-sumer digital camcorders. You can always take a look at the cameras online and say, 'Wow that's so cool, I want THAT one.' But you can't really make the decision until you apply your hands to it. I mean Kendra originally wanted an iBook for her life but after seeing it she chose an iMac and she got a very good deal on it. Sure she has a display model, but those are usually well built. CompUSA gave us...Err...I like to say 'us', but its not 'us' yet. [c: CompUSA gave her a 2 year full-coverage extended warranty for free because it is an display one. BUT ANYWAYS, when her and I were at Circuit City she chose a camera she hadn't even really looked at, and I am researching that camera right now for her so she can decide if she wants to buy it tomorrow.

After all this shopping, we drove all the way to Tree of Life Church which was 45 miles from our present location. But it was sure worth it. The power of God fell so strongly that night. The worship flowed like never before and the sermon was awesome and funny. I will post my notes about it later. But the worship just gave me a boldness to shout out to God. A boldness I had not originally had, but I tell you what. I have been doing my best as a Christian man to hold back my thoughts of lusting after women and it really pays off. I was praying for people tonight like never before. The boldness just flowed from God's Throne. None of that was me. And I praise God for all that. Well maybe I should head off it bed, its 3:21AM.

Instructions about Worship [17 Jun 2004|09:03pm]
For all of you who never read your bible today...Please read this. Its awesome.

1 Timothy 2

1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks.
2 Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity.
3 This is good and pleases God our Savior,
4 for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
5 For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus.
6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message that God gave to the world at the proper time.
7 And I have been chosen--this is the absolute truth--as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles about faith and truth.
8 So wherever you assemble, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.
9 And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.
10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.
11 Women should listen and learn quietly and submissively.
12 I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly.
13 For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve.
14 And it was the woman, not Adam, who was deceived by Satan, and sin was the result.
15 But women will be saved through childbearing[1] and by continuing to live in faith, love, holiness, and modesty.

This is a posting on one of my debate forum's I want you to add how you feel about it, as I will add one of my own.

Ok, I was hanging out with a group of friends tonight, one of whom spent a year and a half at language & Bible schools in Mexico. She brought up a story about one of the guys who went to the Bible school, who went to a nude beach to witness. To be able to reach the... um... culture... he joined them and blended in.

He actually led one girl to the Lord, and while they were talking she said she'd like to be baptized. He agreed to do it, but requested that she allow him to put his shorts on, since he, "didn't feel comfortable baptizing her nude."

We all died laughing - you know that funny, horror stricken laughter - but I thought it might bring an interesting debate here.

How far do you go to reach people? Would you ever consider witnessing on a nudity beach or a strip club?
