I'm at Jimmy's house, alone. Waiting for my ma to call to say she's on her way. Touchin' myself. Okay, well I'm not doing that. I will later, though. Just kidding.
Yes I do go to 80 concerts a year and I always have me a good time! Last night The Borg, myself, Margulies, and Parabola went to see OK Go. First we went to this cheap (though nothing's as cheap as fast food, but I digress) restaurant in Oakland, Fuel N Fuddle, and that was cute. Someone didn't eat all of their food, though, and that was a little weird. But those quesadillas were delish. We were also mesmerized by Julie's INCREDIBLY MASSIVE THINKING MACHINE and her BBC America and her twelve extra Discovery channels, and SCI-FI. You're such a brat! Sci-Fi. Who needs it?!
I love Mr Small's. It's the cutest place to see a show in Pittsburgh (not MILLBURGH, LAMES). The first opening band was Tally Hall, these dudes with non-pressed white business cajj shirts and different ties so they can tell each other apart without having to think about it. Those guys actually drove a wedge between us, until they came out before OK Go and we found that Yellow Tie was plain-looking but actually an okay guy, and Blue Tie, the most exotic and attractive, was some kind of weird Serbian-Egyptian douchebag. The next band were The Lashes, a bunch of weirdos from Seattle with the hottest keyboardist of gay persuasion ever! Julie and I are on the same page with our men.
I had heard a little OK Go earlier in the week from Parab. I bought a t-shirt as soon as we got there because it was one of the most adorable designs I'd ever freaking seen and I was pretty sure they wouldn't suck too much ass. They came on - flashed these vintage floral designs on the stage to match their vintage carpet outfits - and started out well. I got a little bored, because I didn't know all the material. Not as much indie dancing as I usually like. Then again, I didn't pay for it (at least that was the plan), so I was okay with it. But their songs were all danceable and I could certainly tell them apart. They did two awesome covers, ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down" and Violent Femmes' "Prove My Love" for their final final encore finish. And then they did this dance that the lead's sister choreographed for their single's video - it was adore!
They were like Spoon without the pomp. Because Spoon can be pompous, though I don't think they try. They were also more energetic - early Spoon! More instruments - and someday they'll record their own minimalist Gimme Fiction. La la la! I await the day. Will I be in college?
Apparently I have to start a Facebook/FaceBook/FaCeBoOk because I have a college email. Does anybody else have theirs? I don't think I'll do it until I get my study permit, because that could still screw me. I think my mom's trying to send my deposit today. Whew.
I'm coming over to Julie's with a hot MST3K mess AND some playoff tapes.
